Influences
"It was the Law of the Sea, they said. Civilization ends at the waterline. Beyond that, we all enter the food chain, and not always right at the top.
Hunter S. Thompson"
During the last four years IRRITANT have cultivated a unique musical style. They are successfully blending the best features of classic metal and progressive rock with a young fresh take on these legendary genres. With a series of successful independent releases, they have built a strong and loyal following with music videos featured on Scuzz TV in 2006.
Over the past year, IRRITANT has been consulting with the legendary producer Vic Coppersmith-Heaven (The Jam/Black Sabbath/Engineer to the Rolling Stones). The band collaborated with Vic to record their debut single, "Voice of The Siren". "Voice of The Siren" was the 4th highest new entry in June 31st's UK Chart, entering above artists such as Enter Shikari. Over 7000 copies were sold in the first week, helping Irritant to become one of the first UK unsigned bands to grace the official UK top 75 chart.
"Voice of the Siren" was recorded at Mayfair Studios, London, and is a firm favourite of both Total Rock Radio and Bruce Dickinson (Iron Maiden, played regularly on his BBC Radio 6 Show). The single has received worldwide airplay.
IRRITANT also performed for Channel 4’s Mobile Act Unsigned which was aired in October 2007 as voted for by the public. The band came in the top 25 of all 1500 unsigned bands that entered. Although not to the tastes of Radio 1’s Jo Whiley, Alex James of Blur believed the band would make it and Alex Zane of T4/XFM had this to say:
“Killer guitar solos and beautiful hair - Without a doubt the best smelling Rock Band I’ve ever met!" - Alex Zane (T4 + XFM).
The band’s energetic live show has earned them nationwide admiration sharing the stage with bands such as Enter Shikari and Ill Nino. 2006 saw IRRITANT being crowned “Best Band in the South West”; overcoming 15 of the regions best undiscovered musical talents in the Global Battle of The Bands.
IRRITANT have also toured as main support on this year’s Ed Stone Rockwear UK
Tour. The tour was fully sponsored by RockSound, Jägermeister, Dekline Footwear, Planet Loud & Scuzz TV.

wierd was just reading a free music mag in sheffield called coma radio an they wrote a review not sure if u would have seen it but it said: IRRITANT Voice of the siren (Manilla) Formed in the South West of England four years ago Irritant finially release "Voice of the siren" with the legendary Vic Coppersmith-Heaven (the Jam/Black Sabbath) on production duties. This is a respectful nod to the duel guitar attack of Iron Maiden but with a modern melodic twist similar to progsters Coheed. This is a slick sounding and expertly played single (check out the solo in the middle!) which should catapult Irritant to the heights they rightly deserve.
Keep up the good work guys! hopefully catch u again soon! x
