i won't let go:
'InMe' was originally created in the Summer of 1996 (not 1969) by 3 young teenagers who wished to form an escape route to everyday Essex suburban boredom. Dave McPherson & Joe Morgan naturally came together musically as they were childhood friends and Simon Taylor was drafted in when it was discovered he had a drum kit & a mutual passion for soppy haircuts.
Although they obviously had a youthful exuberance due to their pocket-sized years there was something instinctual & truthful in the music & lyrics that held real meaning to the young Essexuals. They weren't afraid to play directly from the heart & had given birth to something that they felt they belonged to.
After treading the local circuit for years 'InMe' were picked up my 'Music for Nations' at the tender age of 18/19 and released their debut album 'Overgrown Eden' which hit number 1 in the UK rock charts. They released 4 singles from aforementioned album of which caused considerable damage to the top 40 including 'Crushed like Fruit' which reached 25.
The boys built up a dedicated fan base headlining venues such as London Astoria & rocked the main stages of Reading/Leeds & Download Festival in 2003. 'InMe' played across Europe & also got the surreal opportunity to play in Japan a number of times. The pinnacle of the 'Overgrown Eden' Campaign was undoubtedly headlining Game On 2003 where they played to a hefty crowd at the 02 Arena.
After 'MFN' ceased to exist they signed to V2 Records & founded their own imprint label 'Pandora's Box Records' which they released their sophomore album 'White Butterfly' to critical acclaim. The band released 5 singles including the anthemic crowd favourite 'Faster the Chase' & the super-charged '7 Weeks'. They proved that despite struggling within a merciless, ever-shifting music industry they had maintained a dedicated, passionate fan base.
In 2006 'InMe' amicably parted ways with bassist Joe Morgan. Dave & Si didn't need to give too much thought as to who was going to fill Morgan's metaphorical boots & immediately brought Greg McPherson (Dave's younger brother) into the fold. With this came an even tighter bond than before & Dave promptly began penning what would become 'Daydream Anonymous'.
InMe needed to show their rejuvenated animal & booked 'The Punishment Tour' across the UK. The tour not only proved (despite the sceptic's belief) that not only did 'InMe' still have a vibrant, loyal fanbase, but also how this was a new 'InMe'...a much stronger, more technical, more hungry, determined 'InMe'.
The band inked a deal with expert management 'Northern Music' (Opeth, Oceansize, Soilwork) & signed to 'Graphite Records' (a sister label to 'Northern Music') & released 'Daydream Anonymous' produced by Jens Bogren ('Opeth'-'Ghost Reveries' & 'Watershed') in Sweden. The album received amazing reviews all round including...
Kerrang Single of the Week 'I won't let go' - 4 Ks
Kerrang 'Daydream Anonymous' review - 4 Ks
Rock Sound 'Daydream Anonymous' review - 8/10
The Fly 'Daydream Anonymous' review - 4/5
Through adversity & change 'InMe' were back on the map.
Thus far 'InMe' have toured with many distinguished bands such as 'Serj Tankian', 'Feeder', 'Nickelback', 'Deftones', 'Staind', 'Puddle of Mudd', 'Soil', 'Limp Bizkit', 'Hundred Reasons' & 'Biffy Clyro.
Dave McPherson talks about the fourth opus from 'InMe'.
"With this album we've explored the technical elements of 'Daydream Anonymous' & made them a great deal more complex. There are 12 songs written designed to literally blow the listener away. We wanted to do something that was heavy as dark matter but in a melodic, unique fashion with infectious choruses but in an inky environment. Lyrically I wanted to do something daring & make each song it's own story, some themes are based on my experiences & some are lifted directly from my vivid dreams/nightmares."
"Playing the new stuff live is pushing us to a whole new level & I simply cannot wait for this stuff to be heard. It is purely visceral alike an untamed beast. I've written it with a 2nd guitarist in mind & luckily Ben Konstantinovic came to our attention recently. He is a complex player with a very unique method & it seemed right to get him involved. Seeing as the album is our 4th it feels fitting to add a 4th member. We will add him to the recording process when we enter the studio & introduce him in 2009 in a live capacity. Obviously things can always change but like I said, it feels right."
Expect to hear the 4th effort in 2009.
