Ibeji (pronounced e-bay-zhee) was conceived as a trio consisting of Roger Davis, Chester Spivey, and Chris Freeman. Realizing they shared a common musical vision, Ibeji started by hosting a night of music and poetry at Harveys in historic Fourth Ward, developing a large, diverse following around the Charlotte area. The group soon graduated to performing at larger events the Charlotte area, including the annual Springfest Celebration, the Afro-American Cultural Center Concert Series, and Festival in the Park. Their dazzling musicianship and soulful performances enabled them to grow their fan base to capacity-sized crowds.
The group has established a solid regional following, captivating audiences in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida. Today, they continue their journey towards national stardom and international acclaim. With continued superior performances and the highly-anticipated release of their album, The Reflecting Pool, Ibeji will be one to watch in 2007.
