INTRODUCING HUNTING SEASON AND THEIR NEW EP: FUZZY POP IS THE NEW GARAGE ROCK

If Fuzzy Pop is the New Garage Rock, then Hunting Season could very well be the new black. The lively Adelaide four-piece mix pop sensibilities with fuzzy guitars, creating instantly likable tunes it’s difficult not to nod your head to. Think Ratcat crossed with Magic Dirt.
Hunting Season have been remarkably successful for a year-old band, being selected to support seminal Australian rock group Screamfeeder on the Adelaide leg of the Take You Apart tour. That gig also coincided with a live cross to Triple J’s Robbie Buck (Home and Hosed) during Hunting Season’s set.
The band have also played with Sydney’s Love Outside Andromeda, Perth’s The Panics and The Bank Holidays, Faker, Dan Brodie, as well as theredsunband.
Hunting Season were selected as MP3.com.au’s feature band, and reached ..1 on their PowerPop charts several times—remaining in the top 10 for 12 months. They are still in there as we speak. They have won Mushroom and Jeanswest’s internet competition, www.born.com.au, in August, by having the site’s favourite song. They received a glowing review (included), and a meeting with Carl Gardiner, CEO of the Mushroom Group. Their songs are still receiving over 200 downloads a month. Track 2 from the EP is featured on the Show Us Your Riffs compilation, which has received national coverage. Track 1 from the EP is featured on the Sounds of MISA CD.
Most of the band’s members have all been in Doug’s previous band at some point or another, except for Jayne who married into the band. Suffice to say they all like each other, they love to rock, and can stand being trapped in a Tarago for hours on end with only each other for company. Which is a good thing.
