Band MembersMe - Guitar and Vocals (not Vox, it's just one more syllable!!)

Carl Hetherington - Piano and random percussion etc

Mark Meilack - Acoustic and double bass of joy

InfluencesAnyone whose music is honest and pure - James Taylor, Norah Jones, Joni Mitchell, Carole King, Paul Simon, Kate Rusby, Polly Paulusma, there are far too many to mention.

I'm also very inspired by my amazingly talented group of musician friends, including the most excellent David Ward Maclean, Adrian Byron Burns (I swear I've never seen blues guitar like that), heavier bands such as Idle Jack and the Big Sleep, bluesy greatness from le Hijack Oscar, York maestros The Falling Spikes and one of my greatest friends, Steve Hartley (The Notion).

   About holly taymar
'BEFORE I KNOW OUT NOW!'

My shiny album is now available to buy for the tiny sum of £5-8! I am extremely, very, immensely, totally proud of this CD - it features my home grown acoustic tunes with the magic touch from Carl Keys.

Beautiful harmonies, simple melodies and many strange instruments make this the album I've always wanted to produce. If I was to describe it as a feeling, it'd be that lovely tingle you get when you feel the sun shine on you for the first time in Spring. If it was a smell, it'd be freshly cut grass. If it was a colour, it'd be a rainbow......you get the picture.

BIOGRAPHY

My name is Holly Taymar, I'm 21, I live in a castle in York and play acoustic jazz/folk for all you lovely innocent bystanders and hope you like it.

I write all my own material, I play acoustic guitar with my own style of finger picking. I get my inspiration from anything, a particular chord, or a pair of shoes - my songs are all very different and I like to think you've taken home a little piece of me after you hear me play! I love doing what I do. I wouldn't, I couldn't, have it any other way.

In 2003 I met GenieCake Records, and eventually signed to them in 2004 before the release of my first album Less Than Nothing. The first album had a very jazz/swingy feel - since then, I have developed as a songwriter and as a musician, writing mellow but quirky acoustic loveliness for your ears.

In August 2005 I released my self titled EP, featuring 6 original tracks. The first 100 were limited edition, painted, guillotined, sketched, and folded by me - have released 2 further editions since then. Check out my music video, made by the wonderful Paul Adshead, made in April 2006 in association with 20/20/02 and Artsstra.

Heeeeyyy....

How's tricks?

I know yer doing te Green Fest, but we're extending events and hoped you'd hang around n get involved, a bit Oxjam stylie.

Having an un-plugged gazibo (in case it rains) and am encouraging anyone who wants to, to come play/jam freely around the park.

James Browne is gonna come do some with the rest of Hungry Ghosts, and a few others (GT, Edwina) have already said they'd do some so it's looing like a cooel little side event.

What do think honey? U up for it?

Hello folks, just a little spam for ya. Thing's are pretty hectic at Please Please You this month as you can see!
MG
Wed. July 2nd. David Karsten Daniels, Burial In The Sky + Boss Caine, The Basement, York, 8pm. £5.

DKD's laest album Fear Of Flying was released by Fat Cat in April and it's bloody marvelous! Look:

"The delirious oboe chorus on ’A Myoclonic Jerk’, the following scuzz-bomb of a guitar attack, the honking horn section on ’That Knot Unties?’, the sliding escalation and sudden stop of ’In My Child Mind You Were A Lion’… it’s all indicative of a sublime musical mind." 9 out of 10. Drowned in Sound

"...a very serious and brave LP, full of grand pronouncements and soaring arrangements." Stool Pigeon

Sat. July 5th. Her Name Is Calla, Glissando + Oh Wow, Meow!, The Basement, York, 8pm. £5.

Tues. July 22nd. Ballboy, Les Cox Sportifs + Over The Atlantic, The Basement, York, 8pm. £5adv.

Tickets available from www.picturehouses.co.uk or 0871 7042054. Only 10 minutes from the station!!

Also, I'm very excited to announce a special PPY party at The Duchess in York. Canadian psych, country, garage, surf (!?) outfit The Sadies will be performing one of eight UK shows in October. An exceptional live band that played the third ever PPY show in 2006 we are delighted to have them back.

Sat. 25th Oct. The Sadies + The Federals, The Duchess, York, 7.30pm. £10adv.

Tickets for this show are available now from www.theduchessyork.co.uk, www.jumborecords.co.uk or http://www.ticketweb.co.uk/user/?region=gb_northeast&query=detail&event=275255

Thanks for including me on your page. Here in the USA, the radio is horrible, just commercial jiberish, it's all mixed and recorded the same way, so I'm using myspace to listen to the music that mainstream top 40 is missing out on. Right away I thought your music was evocative and soulfully honest. Really good stuff Holly!

Have a great one.
