About Hardscrabble

HARDSCRABBLE is a jugless jug band based in Chicago. They can't afford a jug, much less a jug player. (The jug players are all union nowadays anyway.) Hardscrabble plays musical styles from the 1920s and 30s, including ragtime, old-time gospel, viper songs, western swing, and a little calypso.

Jug Bandoliers	Feb 6 2007 3:35 PM Something new from Fritz Richmond The late jug master (1939-2005) plays some of the spookiest tones ever on the previously unreleased "Visiting Day." Recorded by the Jailhouse Jug Band, the tune is currently spotlighted on the Jug Bandolier player.
