I have been a glass artist for over 15 years. I was trained from the ground up--every technique and trick in the book on traditional Tiffany (foil) style, and leaded glass work. After working for MANY years and building hundreds of projects, I somehow managed to buy a little home in Ferndale and tore apart the basement and erected a workshop to make my own custom things! My idea for GLASS ACTION! is a simple one. I'm a sucker for Pop Art and love to incorporate it into my work. I also do traditional pieces and full Stained Glass Repairs. I love the challenge of taking direction from a clients idea of what they want, and making something better than what they had expected!
Myspace is a great way to network and I hope you add GLASS ACTION! as a friend so I can promote art shows and events i'm participating in! As my new Online Portfolio grows, i'll be sure to update my picture page.
Please contact me here or at glass_action@yahoo.com for commissions, referals, ideas or suggestions/requests.
Thanks so much for the support!

Panic In Detroit: Glass Action!
David Bowie nightlights, UFO ornaments, pin-up girl sun-catchers — this ain’t your grandma’s stained glass. Working out of a cozy home studio, Carey Gustafson creates stained glass pieces with a pop-culture twist. Gustafson accidentally picked up the craft while freelancing as a pattern artist for a glass shop after high school. After training and working as a professional glass artist for 15 years, Gustafson recently gave up the daily grind to start her own line of glass goods: Glass Action!
Using primarily the traditional Tiffany (foil) technique, each section of a piece is scored, smoothed on a diamond wheel and put together like a puzzle. Gustafson also does traditional pieces, full stained glass repairs and commissioned custom work. Want to see your favorite image immortalized in stained glass? Gustafson can do it. “I love the challenge of taking direction from a client’s raw ideas of what they want and making something better than what they expect,” she says.
If you’re still looking for some unique stocking stuffers, stop by the Glass Action! Home Show this Saturday. Along with Gustafson’s trademark pop-culture pieces, there will be a wide array of traditionally themed Christmas creations. With most pieces ranging from $5 to $40, you can find something affordable and special for everyone from your mom to your rock-star boyfriend.

Who I'd like to meet: People that love art so much they want to buy it! And like-minded craftsmen/women that can't control their desire to create.
Hello Friends and Family, Jessica VanAssche and Myself have been working extremely hard on creating a new Boutique. It's called Flair Boutique (2) and it's on Main Street, in Rochester MI. It's a second location from my 1st store in Royal Oak which will stay open happy as always.
We have been working non-stop to transforming this 2000 sq ft space and make it our own. From putting in the wood floors ourselves (thanks to Matt Aljain for great wood floor pricing) to creating and installing all the fixtures ourselves and finding some of the most talented artists, crafters and creators of one of a kind handmade items for us to sell.
All of our hard work has finally come to an end and we are celebrating. And we want you all to be there, it would really mean a lot to us!
We will be featuring local Master Painter/Artist George Vhios (art gallery style), Designs by Donna, Hand Made Detroit's (wearable art by), ChainChainChain, Talking Squid, BirdsGather, Rewear Vintage, Citizen Jane, and so much more.
Please join us SEPT 4th At 431 Main Street, Rochester, MI 48307 (248) 601-FLAIR From 5-9pm for an evening of Music DJ's Lemmy Caution & Dr. Phil, Wine, Appetizers, Good People and Great Shopping!
