playing a mix of original folk and blues, frank martyn hammers three, four or eight beat shuffles and ballads into melodic fiction. A native of Boston, he now lives in Providence. With a dream as big as Rhode Island and soul of a well-kempt poet, he mines Downcity alleys, East Side cafes and the heart of Olneyville for slivers of light.
yeah.. okay, some guy told me you sucked really bad on keyboard, he was this guy with dark hair, played some depressing open mic song...ah, i don't know. i think he's crazy....
you absolutely brought that keyboard alive, yeah, you're definitely the keyboard king of the Hotel. i know you don't want to hear it but yeah, it's said right here and now, FRANK MARTYN IS THE KEYBOARD KING OF THE GREENWICH HOTEL!
how are you? hope you're having a relaxing sunday. thanks for the fun night, it's always a pleasure hearing you play.
Hey Frank, Nice job last night, you're on fire lately, love the emotion you put in your songs... nice. :) (just don't start crying during the most depressing song at open mic) <smile. Take care, Joann
saw your post on Marc's page and thought I'd drop by. if you're around tomorrow night come on down to the Narrows for the MDB/Justin Townes Earle gig. it's the only night I'm on this week at the Narrows.
Hey Frank, Congrates on the big....(it was not fixed....or was it...) Awesome job last night. I like your new and improved version of "Stay". You can avoid the copyright and re name it "Stay, Len". Yeah, I think that works.... Hey they did Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, Baa Baa Black Sheep, the ABC Song and I'm sure others to the same tune....Later....Gotta go swing a brush!
Hey Frank! Just listening to "Driving Back Home" and wanted to tell you that I love the line that goes "I sing some songs, smoke cigarettes, zone out on the interstate." The kind of line that conveys one of those subtle feelings I've had, but not thought about. Hope you're well my friend!
hey frank, nice job tonight hosting open mic. i can't believe you found the button. how cool. i've only been doing this for oh about a year and it was YOU who found it. i might keep you on sound for a bit longer. however, at some point, one of us is gonna get voted off! haha. that was funny tonight. nice improv.
....follow the neon light to the finest place on main street, The Greenwich Hotel... yeah!
night, thanks again, jj
ps: 'I hope life treats you kind and I hope you have all you've dreamed of. And I wish to you, joy and happiness. But above all this, I wish you love..... ooovveeee. Annnnnnd I...i..e..i.... " you've got that song in my head now!! haha. it's gotta be one of my favorites of all time. and it made the dummies too, how cool!! :)
hahaha, um, would you think I'd sabotage you whilst you're playing? ah, but of course I would to get that title of 'sound man'... yeah, maybe I'll grow a beard! (but not!). It's the Bejing olympics right from the Hotel. oh dear! You sounded great with Pete, loved hearing you guys jam. :) The keyboard was a nice touch! Thanks for making those ivories come alive! Happy sunday to you, hope you're resting as the games continue on Tues! Take care, Joann
aww thanks frank.. :) we just gotta 'follow the neon light...to the greenwich hotel...' love that song. had a great time last night, gotta practice my guitar more though, i'm rusty... it's all good. take care, jj
Thank you Frank! I loved your NEW song! We will def. have to sing ita again. Thank you for being such a GREAT teacher on sound and allowing this little bird to fly :)
