Douglas Alvarez's Interests
General
Traveling, pondering, writing, reading, hiking, wasting too much time playing Playstation, progressive politics, consuming olives, experiencing good times, just to name a few.
Music
I’m pretty open to anything like 60's and 70's hard rock, drone ambient sounds, jazz (nothing smooth), blues (early 20th century), punk rock, some metal, country (the good kind), classical music (when drinking wine outta dixie cups), indie rock, swamp rock and old school rap. I also enjoy a variety of global and eclectic music.

Television
I no longer watch TV.
Books
Parallel Worlds, Ham on Rye, Siddharth, 1984, The Dharma Bums, Da Vinci Code, Crime and Punishment, Lomesome Dove, Animal Farm, The Stranger, Candide, Dracula, Tao of Pooh and the list goes on and on.
I'm a painter and a native Californian. My father is a retired Baptist preacher man but I have an open mind about the universe. I try to carry no conclusions because ultimately we humans know very little but slowly learning. Nevertheless, my passion is painting and I like to think of myself as some sort of neo-folk artist. Wood is my favorite surface to paint. I find inspiration in nature, soulful faces, crazy quantum theories, old architecture, untrimmed trees, graffiti, mustard seed flowers, luchadoras, unexplainable lights in the sky, mysterious energy fields, just to name a few. I also love to travel and eat sushi. The galleries which I've shown include The Hive Gallery, Cannibal Flower, La Luz de Jesus, Strychnin Galley (Germany), MF Gallery (NYC), Monkeyhouse Toys, Rock Rose Art Gallery, Fish Out Of Water Gallery (SD), Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery, The Grind Gallery, Hanger 1018, Art Slave Gallery, dA Center for the Arts (Pomona), Antagonist Movement (NYC) and the Volkarts events. Who I'd like to meet: People--of all kinds, funny humans, open-minded & friendly souls, artist of all sorts and long lost friends.
In case you weren't aware, I'm trying to find like minded people who like good music cause mainstream radio doth suck. I hate hyper happy radio hosts, insipid chat and playlists backed by record companies filled with krappy bands beginning with the letter K! So I've made the show I always wanted to hear on the radio! So I'd like to invite you to check it out if you haven't already
