Sounds Like
Sun Ra meets Sonic Youth. They go to a nice diner nearby. They all get coffee. Thurston and Sun Ra get pie. Thurston gets blueberry, Sun Ra gets lemon merengue. But really he wishes he got blueberry too.
DOOT! is a trippy combination of thunderous free jazz, electronica loops, and psychic soundscapes that will set your soul on fire and put some damn hair on your chest.
DOOT! is a revolving, ever-evolving, always-involving group of improvising arseholes that orbit avante-veterans Steve Chillemi and Pete Brunelli on drums and bass. The band also features Zappa veteran Andre Cholmondeley and jamband alumnus Nate Trier playing an assortment of keyed, stringed, and jingling instruments.
It's the way you play that makes it . . . Play like you play. Play like you think, and then you got it, if you're going to get it. And whatever you get, that's you, so that's your story. -- Count Basie

"What will this evening
Bring me this morning?
A succulent fat one!
A mod little flat one,
Maybe a hot one (to give me the clap!)
Maybe a freak who gets off with a strap."

It looks like I'm the first to burst your comment cherry! I like what I'm hearing although it's hard to define: avant-rock? maybe? Thanks for the add and finding me at myspace.com. I have a question for the Frank Zappa veterans. Were you guys playing with Frank Zappa in Boston on Janaury 31. 1969? I was at that performance. Just curious. I love the sound of the band with the bass. The bass appears to be the dominate voice in this group. Keep using this approach. You'll get more mileage that way ( we hope). lol. Take care.
Peace,
Marc Edwards
