Cuckundoo wants to release music with an experimental edge yet still accessible.
The ideal situation would be to get artists from all walks of life and musical styles to jam together, recorded both in audio and on film. The essence of music is in live performance, so Cuckundoo wants to be able to catch this vibe.
Inspired by not only the music itself, but also the Canadian collectives such as Constellation, Broken Social Scene and Arcade Fire and the recent Leeds scene (Dance to the Radio, Art Goes Pop, Engine Room, Gizeh...), by comedy (Chris Morris, the Boosh, Look Around You), by film (directors Linklater, Coen brothers, Leone, Kaufman, Jeunet...), not to mention all of the other day-to-day occurences that pass by.
Vessels
Experimental/post-rock band (Martin Teff, Tim Mitchell, Tom Evans, Lee J.Malcolm) who formed in 2005, and have since played at the Leeds festival and with Mono, Jeniferever, The Appleseed Cast, iLiKETRAiNS, Brett Anderson and Youthmovies amongst others. Their sound has been compared to many bands/movements, but a distinctive sound is emerging from their Green Room headquarters in Leeds.
Vessels had a second single, Two Words & A Gesture, out in November '07. You can hear that here or on Vessels' MySpace. They have finished the recording of their debut record their album at the Pachyderm in Minneapolis, US, with John Congleton, read their diary here:

escalade
I met Greg Sullivan in the Lodge in the City hostel on Taranaki Street in Wellington, NZ, in 2003. In between his recordings, we got to know each other quite well, and he passed me a cd, and 18 months later it dawned on me that we could work together, despite there being almost 10,000 miles between us. Anyway here is what Greg says about escalade:
escalade (aka Greg Sullivan) is a project based in Tokyo, Japan. Originally from New York, USA, Sullivan embarked on a self-imposed exile to New Zealand, and has currently been gaining momentum within the live scene of Japan's capital.
A-side, X's & O's, is a slow-burner exemplifying Sullivan's superb production skills that evokes the likes of Hood or Television. Mikael Jorgensen (Wilco) helped mix the track with Greg. Pleasure Treasure, the b-side, is more of a nod to Future Days-era Can or Stereolab with its insistent groove, and was mixed by John McEntire (Tortoise/Sea & Cake).

For this Forest of Sound we’re getting together with our good friends at Misplaced Music to celebrate the release of Gareth S. Brown’s new album, The Gallows on Misplaced Music (order here).
Bracken makes simply stunning music - walls of ambient sound, dark dub bass and atmospheres, destroyed and re-claimed found sound, beats that range from over-powering to perfectly understated.
Gareth S. Brown creates gorgeous work of layered beauty with nods towards Philip Glass, Terry Riley and Michael Nyman as well as latter day travellers such as Max Richter, Yann Tiersen and Aphex Twin.
Sketches for Albinos makes a sound that manages to be both truly heartfelt and organic, but also encompassing the majestic glacial soundscapes that would make the likes of Tim Hecker or Fennesz proud.
The Declining Winter are a new musical project, led by Richard Adams, the co-founder of Domino Records group Hood, and is influenced by the music of Low, The Durutti Column, Songs of Green Pheasant and more. They have recently toured with ambient legends, Stars of the Lid. Live they’re a wonderful, beautiful, pastoral experience.
