PASSIONATE: that is the best way to describe Cheri LaDell’s ministry. When Cheri opens her mouth, it is undeniable that she loves God, His Word and His People. As a worship leader, choir director, singer and songwriter, Cheri strives to use her platform as a means to show people that God is good and His Word is true!
Cheri has always been passionate about music. As a little girl, she would climb up into the large tree in her grandparents’ backyard to write and sing. It is there that her love for God and music grew. It is also there that, at the age of twelve, her destiny was shaped.
Cheri jumped from her beloved tree and landed on a pole, gouging her leg.
Her first words were, “I am going to die.” Then she said something that would change the path of her life: “No I’m not, because God has something for me to do!”
Cheri was rushed to one hospital and then another. Luckily, she escaped amputation by a few minutes.
God miraculously answered the prayers of Cheri's family and friends by turning an anticipated 6-week hospital stay into only 16 days. Even at her tender age, Cheri understood that it only took a little faith for God to move mountains.
In 1998, Cheri married her soul mate, Perry Wiggins IV, but they were given devastating news: doctors informed them that the accident Cheri had had 10 years earlier would make it difficult, if not impossible, for her to have children.
On her first wedding anniversary, God spoke through Cheri's Pastor, Lee Stevenson Sr., and told Cheri that a child would come forth. On December 7th, 1999, Cheri and Perry became the proud parents of a baby girl, Reilly Elise. Seven years later, they were blessed to give birth to another daughter, Mya Reese.
December 8th, 2007, marked a milestone for Cheri’s ministry as she released her first independent project entitled, “Beyond Measure.” “Beyond Measure” was released under the newly established H.I.S (Heavenly Inspired Sounds) Records a division of H.I.S Ministries
Cheri’s favorite scripture is Psalms 5:3: “In the morning oh, Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation.” Cheri’s faith in God and love of His Word has given her a passion and expectancy. “I believe God, I trust Him, and I wait in expectation of the things that He’s promised me. But if He doesn’t do another thing for me – He’s already blessed me Beyond Measure.”
Yes mame, I am getting married! lol I pretty much reconnected with my high school sweetheart and after 12 years pretty much picked up right where we left off... funny huh!?! Everything is moving right along. How is Nashville treating you? I love your songs by the way, they are beautiful!
