About me:
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
We are the Austin chapter of the Campaign to END the Death Penalty (CEDP). CEDP is a national organization dedicated to the grassroots struggle for abolition, built upon the philosophy that death-row inmates and their family members must be at the center of fighting to abolish the death penalty. Our opposition to the death penalty is based on 5 main principles:

1. The death penalty is racist.
2. The death penalty punishes the poor.
3. The death penalty condemns the innocent to die.
4. The death penalty is not a deterrent to violent crime.
5. The death penalty is "cruel and unusual punishment".

The CEDP is the only national membership-driven, chapter-based grassroots organization dedicated to the abolition of capital punishment in the United States. We have active chapters in cities and campuses across the country. To win abolition, we need to build grassroots struggle. There is no shortcut solution. The truth is, we need more activists involved in order to win. To become part of the struggle for abolition, check out our meetings:

We are currently on an informal summer meeting schedule. We meet at local coffee shops in central Austin. Contact us to get involved! Regular weekly campus meetings will resume with the fall semester.

Don't live in Austin? Join a chapter in another city or start your own chapter.

Go join in my thread on the my space forum in US politics - it's called "Democracy and the death penalty - a non-sequitur."

I'm getting bitten by a troll in there and need some support! Also the bigger that thread gets the more likely people are to go and download the Free Rob Will songs...
Cheers guys

I wanted to drop in and say thanks for being a friend and fellow warrior.
Sometimes it's hard to stand and fight for what you believe in when so many people try and put stumbling blocks in front of you.
But like the saying goes " It's better to be hated for what you are, than loved for what you're not"
You are very special my friend.
Keep up the good fight!!
With much love and respect

Is it wrong to want equality for all? Obviously it is because so many fight against it. I heard a commentator say during the Jena 6 rally that it's hard to "smell yourself" in response to listening to an older white man say "We don't have a problem with the COLOREDS here in Jena." When a person stinks, it's hard for them to smell themselves. Whether it's the stink of hate, deceit, injustice or untruth... it's hard for you to smell yourself. HATE is a mentality that starts at a young age, not the first time you hear the word Nigger. Hate is a choice not a lifestyle forced upon you. Society has worked so hard to shift the blame... society can't even smell itself.

Kenneth Foster Jr. Lives! Hooray for grassroots activism!! Here are Kenneth's own words from his Aug. 22 Court T.V. Interview:

"I work with a lot of anti-death penalty groups. Groups like Alive in Germany. My main core group right now is the CEDP, the Campaign to End the Death Penalty, and they're stationed out of Chicago but they have different branches throughout the U.S. The CEDP out of Austin has been the strongest group to step up thus far. They're pretty much helping lead my campaign. So we make these bridges. We build these bonds with all these people from all over. When I say "we," I'm talking about the whole death penalty movement, not just myself."

Amazing Victory. Amazing work.

We need you to come out to Livingston and Huntsville on August 29th and 30th to protest the executions of Kenneth Foster Jr (scheduled for August 30) and the one proceeding it of John Amador. Both men are from San Antonio and have been protesting their executions together since August 22 by refusing all compliance including food with their upcoming executions.

Please come down to Livingston/Huntsville next week. We need you and your people to come out and demand this man's life be spared. We will protest until the very end to send the message that the State of Texas do the right thing and stop this execution.

The details:

Wednesday, August 29--
1:00 pm to 4pm: Gather outside the Polunsky Unit in Livingston TX for a demonstration against the deplorable, torturous conditions of the Polunsky Unit and against the double executions of John Amador, scheduled for August 29, and Kenneth Foster, set for August 30.
Polunsky Unit: 3825 FM 350 South, Livingston Texas 77351

4pm-7pm: Protest the execution of John Amador outside the Huntsville Unit in Huntsville Texas.
Huntsville Unit: 815 12th Street Huntsville Texas 77340

Thursday, August 30:
3pm-7pm: Protest the execution of Kenneth Foster Jr outside the Huntsville Unit in Huntsville Texas. Groups from all over the state will converge to stand against this injustice and demand until the very end that the State of Texas do the right thing and stop this execution.

Kenneth Foster is Rob's friend and a comrade in the DRIVE Movement. Kenneth is an innocent man on Texas death row, convicted by the absurd "Law of Parties"--although Kenneth didn't murder anyone, he received a death sentence because he drove the getaway car.

Kenneth was convicted because he was young, black, and a member of the San Antonio rap scene.

Kenneth's final appeal was denied and he is eligible or an execution date at any time. Across the US, the death penalty is being called into question. There are moratoriums in California, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, and other states. Two weeks ago, the US Supreme Court overturned the death sentences of three Texas men. Two hundred people have been exonerated by DNA evidence and the Dallas Morning News has come out against capital punishment. Let's tell Texas Governor Rick Perry that he can't get away with murdering another innocent man!

Download and mail this sample letter from the DRIVE website or write you own. Every letter sent could help save Kenneth's life.

For more information on Kenneth Foster, visit DRIVE Movement.org or Free Kenneth.com
