Inspired by pop-veterans such as Lemonheads,
Teenage Fanclub and even Bryan Adams (!),
mixed together with Kiss from the 80..s and the
beautiful harmonies of Brian Wilson, Tomas Dahl
was determined to form a non-band, a project
featuring only himself, a one-man boyband.
Having played in various bands since I was 14
years old, I wanted to do something different than
rehearsing year after year in a smelly, cold basement.
I just don..t find it exciting anymore. I wanted to create
something that would represent me and the music I make.
That..s when I thought about recording a couple of songs,
do all the recording myself and just see what it sounds like
he says.
Well, the 2 songs soon became a full-length album
consisting of 10 songs, filled with lovely harmonies,
loud guitars and lots of hooks. Tomas Dahl, which is
a former member of bands such as The Yum Yums,
The Wonderfools and has contributed on the last 2
Turbonegro albums, has a unique pop sensibility and
writes songs that is as catchy as chlamydia! His songs
find their way inside your brain and stay there for a
long time. Now that his album is finished, he..s planning
to get a release for it sometime this year.
I recorded this album in Toproom Studios which is run
by a good friend of mine, Børge Finstad. He..s actually
a well-known metal producer. He..d let me use his studio
whenever it was available. It was usually booked most
of the time, but I got around to finish it eventually. It took
me one and a half year to get it done, that..s why I..ve
called the album Go Slow. So now I..m just really happy
with the result and hopefully I..ll have it out sometime this
year.
And he has every single intention of being happy with the
result, the album is a killer; from the poppy rocker
Hanging On (To Nothing), the Brian Wilson-esque
Dumb Angel to the powerpop sparkling energy in Twister.
The national radio in Norway picked up one of his songs
and he..s one of the
finalists for un-signed artists of the year, a competition
the radio has every year.
And he..s currently being used in a surf soundtrack in Hawaii,
even before the
album is out!

Kanskje du denne gangen vil prøve å leie et øvingslokale i et helprofft næringsbygg med Securitas, kameraovervåking, alarmer og kodelåser hele døgnet? Kanskje du denne gangen vil prøve å leie et øvingslokale som LÅTER fett, satt sammen av noen som KAN akustikk? Da er du heldig! Åtte av disse deilige lokalene er under produksjon, og vil stå klar ca 01 juni. Adressen er Mølleparken 4 (Mølla Næringspark, ved Akerselva/Walmanns Salonger, Øvre Grunerløkka).
Et godt og aktivt musikermiljø til å knytte verdifulle kontakter i finnes i samme hus allerede. Det er flere øvingslokaler, tre innspillingsstudioer (Caliban Studios, Parachute Studio og Cabin Recorders) i forskjellige etasjer, samt Prolyd og Dritfetegitarer rett borte i gangen. Load in/out er en drøm med bilkjøring inn i huset og helt frem til døra! Hvert rom blir på romslige 26 kvadrat, pluss et felles lagerrom. Perfekt for 2-3 kompisband pr lokale.
Prisen blir 7000,- i måneden pr rom. Kontrakter skrives NÅ, så her er det bare å henge i!
