Both Ben & Victor like Will Oldham, Gastr del Sol, Opiate, Frank Bretschneider, Alva Noto, Murcof, Fax, Choncey Langford/thee matic/thee Outfit, Zapan, Bobby Karate aka Bruno Pronsato, Taylor Deupree, Richard Chartier, Steve Reich, Free Jail, Wimbledon (actually all the folks at Beep Repaired are special), Channing Cope, The Books, The Joggers, & of course every single band that is on Woodson Lateral, Hakea, Adem, Slint, Papa M, etc. Do with this list what you will, becuase it don't mean much (aside from the props to our lovely friends).
In terms of what we're all about, I'd like to call it computer music. But the general consensus on the streets is that we do minimal, glitch, idm, and a dash of dnb.
Originally based in the ever so gorgeous city of Seattle, that has been enjoying an growing wealth of electronic music in these parts. Thanks due in part to some lovely venues, promoters & weekly writers. Presently Bookmobile is working via ftp & vacations as Victor has moved to Chicago, and Ben continues to reside in Seattle.
While Victor longs for the days of playing Bookmobile shows, Ben works out the kinks in his solo work in Splinters (click that link you'll be glad you did), plays drums, guitars and sings in the rock outfit Lunch Buddy Program, and manages every aspect of Woodson Lateral Records.
Our history stems from the formation of a improv rock trio intrested in playing indie rock without the convention of writing songs. That was called Recidivist. That then became Lamplighter, a computer trio intrested in the convention of writing songs. Us now, we are Bookmobile & the third part is Thee Outfit, The Matic or just plain Choncey Langford.
Tonight, come celebrate with Basstown as our very talented Etan - who's loved on BBC Radio 1, and has nearly sold out of his Tronstep pressing which features remixes for Caribou, Justice, and Crystal Castles - has turned 21! That's right...Basstown is now entirely legal :-O
Techno Kills wouldn't exist without André Obin. One half of the local electro-shoegaze Matters & Dunaway, he has been making original techno tracks on his own, going under the moniker of his own name. This very special night will be his premiere live performance of his tracks. Moodgadget - a part of Ghostly International - has just released "Colorwheel," and are putting out "Angel Dust" on a summer compilation. Other tracks like "XO1979" can be found here on his M&D bandmate's (Tom Gallager) new blog.
Last but not least, the night will also include Bookmobile. The duo come all the way from Seattle, and while they may have more of a 4/4 sense to call them IDM, their music is obtuse and interesting, with parts that are danceable but always cerebral.

"I don't take my head to see HIGHER becouse the sky is landing over my neck" is the third and last cd of the "Trilogy of the voice" started with "Post-Fordist parade in the strike of events (Baskaru, 2006) and continued with the second "Voices stomp flames for requiem times" (Ruralfaune, 2007. The work is dedicated to two artists: Angus MacLise and Jackson Pollock and inspired by their individual researchs; but at difference of the first two works, this time only two long tracks cover the disc (50 minutes). "I don't take..." is, first of all, a cd that it talks of love and it's dedicated to all lovers. As all previous work on ( e t r e ), the reasons behind his music, turns this time in a more strong way: total discontinuity of sonorus levels, complete abolition of the forms and the same research of the uneasiness and abstration. The continuity with analog & digital working is based on the use of some instruments: Kalimba, Zither, Shruti box, Esraj , Lap steel & Electric guitars and a massive use of field recordings (slaughterhouse, mountains, thermal baths, marchs of the Palio in Siena. This work is been pressed in 200 copies on the new (etre)'s label: Riz(h)ome Records and it has 7 different covers and 3 types of different paper inside.

Hysteresis is a property of systems that do not instantly follow the forces applied to them, but to react slowly, or do not return completely to their original state. In this case, we are talking with this term about an analogy to our relative hibernation: in this pause we had a chance to think about our route to follow as a label. So we named Hysteresis to our 20th release, one with the participation of artists from México, Chile, Japón and the US. This is the evolution of our aesthetic.
