THE COMMUNITY OF OCEAN BEACH AWARDED TWO COMMUNITY SERVICES AWARDS TO BEACH MUSIC MAFIA IN OCT 2007 FOR SUPPORTING OUR COMMUNITY THROUGH MUSIC. ( We received one in 2005, also). Beach Music Mafia is an organization of movers and shakers in the San Diego music scene with the sole mission of fostering a richer music culture while embracing and enriching community culture. ...........We create music events such as the annual "CASH ONLY! - A Tribute to the Music & Legend of Johnny Cash. We're in our sixth year of hosting MUSIC ON THE AVENUE at the Ocean Beach Farmers Market on Newport Avenue, every Wednesday (Voted the BEST in SUNSET MAGAZINE AND SAN DIEGO MAGAZINE!). We produce the music for the Annual Ocean Beach Street Fair & Chili cook-off..............In 2007 we added a fifth stage, also showcasing more talent than ever. The MOB goes big and generous during the holdays, as well, coordinating events and fundraisers during the month of December in order to "give back" to the community with events such as OCEAN BEACH HOLIDAY MUSIC FESTIVAL / FOOD & TOY DRIVE. In 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 we collected truckloads of toys and food for our challenged neighbors. In the meantime we host shows at Winston's and other area venues, on a weekly basis. A1A TO PERFORM AT FLORIDAZE FESTIVAL NEW SONG ON BENEFIT CD
SATURDAY, MAY 17, 2008 The Trade Winds Island and Beach Resort - St Pete Beach, Florida
The Tampa Bay Parrot Head Club, along with Parrot Head Clubs from all across the state of Florida, would like you to join us for the First Annual Floridaze Beach Festival. This promises to be a phenomenal event with the cream of the Trop-Rock artists performing throughout the weekend and a major fund raising event for The Save The Manatee Foundation. Many Major Trop Rock Artists, including Jeff Pike of A1A, have all written a song for a major benefit CD for The Save The Manatee Foundation which will be released on Friday, May 16 during festival. Jeff's song "The Steller Songlines" from the new A1A CD "Beachwrecked" was chosen to be included on this CD.
A1A performs Saturday afternoon on the beach from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM and Jeff Pike will host the song writers jam inside later that evening at 10:00 PM. For more information go to WWW. FLORIDAZE. ORG
