I was fortunate to be able to grow up seeing America from varied viewpoints. My childhood was spent in Hawaii and Indonesia. After college I worked as a community organizer on the South side of Chicago focusing on improving living conditions in poor neighborhoods.
I came to understand that to truly solve the problems facing our communities, it would take a change in our laws and our politics. I ran and served for seven years in the Illinois state Senate, where I fought for expanding children's health care, providing tax cuts for the working poor and enacting welfare reform. In 2004, I was elected to the U.S. Senate, where I have worked to pass laws securing dangerous weapons and making government more accountable. I have also opposed the Iraq war from the start, and believe that we need to bring our troops home so we can refocus on the wider struggle against terrorism.
Of all my life experiences, I am most proud of my wife Michelle and my daughters Malia and Sasha.
We are big supporters here. Just read your plans in Newsweek for overhauling the educational system and am impressed and inspired. Looking forward to all the changes that you are going to bring. 6% and rising!!!!!

Some people are just born to lead and to improve. You are one of those people. Mr. Obama every since i heard about you and who you were i said "he has my vote". You've inspired me to dream and hope for a better America and World. I am honored to be hear for a time like this. I thank God everyday for this moment to make history and to see history be made. I will make sure that every body i talk to will vote, but try to get them to vote for change and not for same. Thank you President Obama, and God bless you and your family, and America
Thanks for the add. I am voting for Barack Obama not only for 2008 but for the future, for my son, for hope. I hope that Obama sticks true to his stance against corruption, I will fight for him as long as that never waivers. GO OBAMA! Vote for a CHANGE!

"Whoever of you loves life and desires to see many good days, keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking lies" (Psalm 34:13).
"He who conceals his hatred has lying lips, and whoever spreads slander is a fool" (Proverbs 10:18).
"With his mouth the godless destroys his neighbor" (Proverbs 11:9a).
"But I tell you that men will have to give account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken. For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned" (Matthew 12:36-37).
"Rid yourselves of all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind" (1 Peter 2:2).
Slander and its printed version, libel, are deeply wrong. Followers of Jesus Christ should have nothing to do with them.
i'm part of a group going to Cambodia in one week to provide medical care in the remote rural country. but, it seems the elections (corruption) and other circumstances are making it hard to get all the medicines we need. Please read my blog ASAP and please let the right people know if you can supply anything. some are realy simple like prenatal vitamins and antibiotic cream. please help!! this is urgent!!!
Some people don't understand how important this election really is. It brings tears to my eyes to think of the negative impact a McCain presidency would bring.
Your campaign is the light at the end of the tunnel most of us have been fighting to get to. Please lead us a place where it feels right to say "The American Dream" once again.
