WALK, WITH SNAKEBITE VOCALIST JASON SMITH. Thanks to Laurence for the video!
Avenge Thee are a Thrash Metal band from yonder hills of Kent, taking good old fashioned Thrash and adding other stuff into the mix to create their own sound!
The band started in 2002, with the original members Louiss and Adam watching girls on MTV taking their shirts off to bands. So the band was born on the basis of getting laid! Louiss would take up bass, Adam singing and Max Holden joined on drums. Although the three practiced, not a lot happened, even when Rupert Taylor joined on guitar. Although things seemed to be going reasonably well in 2005, Rupert left the band for the Indie-Punk outfit he created with no warning called Tangerine Fingers (RIP).
Then it all changed, as Peter Fulker joined along with guitarist, Phil Lewis midway through 2006. Along with Peter Swindley, the line up was nearly complete. Around that time Danny replaced Louiss as bassist and gelled quickly to make an effective rhythm section with Peter Swindley, writing songs such as Hyperagression, Severed Freedom, Ochlocracy and many more fan favourites.
But In the summer of 2007 they parted ways with Peter Swindley, due to commitment differences and recruited Cyrus Abadeh to play drums for them, who quickly adapted to their music style. The band progressed further, playing more venues and putting on a more impressive show every time. But few new songs came out of this time period.
And unfortunately in the first few months of 2008, Avenge Thee lost two members- firstly Cyrus, due to a lack of commitment which was evidenced in the number of gigs cancelled and the gulf in talent difference- and then Phil, also due to differences in aims. But with Chainy Rabbit becoming the new drummer it all went well and actually in time. Chainy had stood in for the band before, and therefore he slotted straight in with a great effect to their live show. The guitarist slot was also filled at the beginning of March with the arrival of Corin Harper, whose playing prowess and ability to learn quickly made him an effective and powerful addition to Avenge Thee.
More songs were written with the new line up progressing further to heights which had not been achieved before and therefore the live shows have radically increased in number and adrenaline rush with the Maidens Head in Canterbury being an unforgettable night to all there highlighted by the immense loss of blood on Peter..s part, the remains of which can still be viewed by request on his guitar.
However with all this new success came a loss in the form of Corin Harper whose views on the band were greatly different to the rest and they mutually parted ways.
Due to their love of playing their brand of metal to everyone who wants to listen, Avenge Thee are always looking for more gigs and are always coming to your town! If you’re interested in them playing for you, comment or message them and they will be happy to play!

NME:
" The last band on the bill are a young band from the historical town of Canterbury who have a Good Hard Thrash style with a mix of Body moving Grooves. Definetly a band to watch for in the future."
Beercart Arms:
"Good quality metal with a large fanbase who really know how to work a crowd. Our largest headline draw to date and a band I urge all to catch next time they play. We will definitely have them back for another headline slot really soon."
AAW Promotions:
“A young metal band with a lot of potential to say the least. Really amazingly catchy riffs which sometimes make your eyes bleed and Panterary style vocals mixed with metallica and slayer influenced solos to boot
Just bloody amazing in simple terms
Watch this Band”
Aphellion Promotions:
"The songs are rifforama thrash heavy fun for a good 4 mins at a time. The style and the tracks are pretty solid."
Soundhole:
"Avenge Thee were The fourth band to play tonight was again another new band, their sound comprised of a hard-hitting Precision Metal style that was fronted by the impressive guttural screams of their singer which gave a very Pantera/Machine Head aspect to the bands performance, they also showed their more classic influence with one of the later songs in their set (an impressive cover of Slayer’s ‘Raining Blood,’), a great debut by the band to the ‘hole."
Music Land - Band of the Month Jan 08:
"A groove metal band from our local canterbury area. Mixing the best of Pantera, Metallica and Slayer with more modern metalcore influences.
Check 'em out!! "
FeedMe Music:
"If Brutal shows or Good Thrashing Groves are what your after Avenge Thee are here to service those needs!"
