HALLOWEEN PARTY AT OUR HOUSE, OCTOBER 27, 2007
Here is my granddaughter Jade singing at the concert given by the participants in the "Hillsborough Writes Music: The Young Songwriters' Symposium." Her song was based on a book she read for the Battle of the Books competition. Naturally, she was totally awesome.
NUMBERS 2-?
So many geeky things--so little time:American Idol Season 5, the new Dr. Who shows, "Firefly," good SF and fantasy short stories, lots of movies, too much TV, SHOPPING, dolls, reading, a little song writing, NECRONOMICON and a bunch of other stuff I can't bring to mind right now.
The Stone Hill Science Fiction Association is a major interest. It encompasses so many of my geekish pursuits!
If you are a science fiction or fantasy geek too and want to know more about our spiffy little club, visit Our Web Page!
FOOD, cooking it, eating it, reading about it, watching TV about it and lamenting that I shouldn't enjoy it so much because it keeps me from being as fit as I'd like to be.
Here's a super cool cake picture. Tiffanie, my daugher-in-law, knows my true geekiness and combined my love of "Firefly" with my love of CAKE for my birthday.
Occasionally, I write a filk song, a poem or some rant about the mess the powers that be in the U.S. have recently made of things.
Because I am truly a Dork Princess of Fandom, here is a "Firefly" filk I wrote.
ANN'S FIREFLY SONG
Tune: When Johnny Comes Marching Home
Firefly, you're burning bright, haroo, haroo.
Flying swiftly through the night, haroo, haroo.
We call your name "Serenity"
For a rebel's memory.
And we all have dreams of a time and Earth That Was.
Serenity's our only home, haroo, haroo.
We spend our lives on the roam, haroo, haroo.
Hiding from Alliance spies
Wond'ring where our future lies
And we all have dreams of a time and Earth That Was.
Where we go, waits danger there, haroo, haroo.
Yet we fly without a care, haroo, haroo.
Not quite honest all our deeds,
Irreverence is our creed.
And we all have dreams of a time and Earth That Was.
Some people think we're all nuts, haroo, haroo.
But Firefly has saved our butts, haroo, haroo.
You thought this song was serious
But now it's turned humorous.
And we still have dreams of a time and Earth That Was.
Music
I'm kind of stuck in the 60s. If music is from that era or has that era's sound, there's a very good chance I'll like it. I also enjoy folk, which distresses some people I know but there it is.
Celtic music is in my blood. There must be a gene that some people have for it. You either love or hate bagpipes and I love them.
I like parodies of many musical styles:)
You Are Kermit
Hi, ho! Lovable and friendly, you get along well with everyone you know.
You're a big thinker, and sometimes you over think life's problems.
Don't worry - everyone know's it's not easy being green.
Just remember, time's fun when you're having flies!
comedies, SF, fantasy, supernatural horror, some biographical and period pieces.
Here I am with Lloyd Kaufman (November 4, 2006)who was in Tampa appearing at a small horror convention. He is making the rounds promoting "Poultrygeist."
I made a fan page for "Poultrygeist." Take a look HERE
Here's a movie you have to love.
Television
Too much!!! It's my guilty pleasure.
Which Doctor (from Doctor Who) Are You?
You are the eighth Doctor! Friendly and warm, you are the most human of all the Doctors. Your sense of style is a bit old-fashioned. You have a bit of trouble figuring out exactly who you are at first, but no worries. Eventually you'll find your way. Take this quiz!
There are too many to pick one favorite but some that I have read more than once are THE SECRET GARDEN by Frances Hodgeson Burnett, RED PLANET by Robert A. Heinlein, and the ALICE books by Lewis Carroll.

Finally, about me...
What can I say? Ever since falling down that rabbit hole when I was a young thing, life has never been the same. It also has never been sane.
You didn't expect serious biographical information, did you?
If I post here and you visit here, you'll get to know me if you don't know me in "real" life already.

Who I'd like to meet: PEOPLE WHO:
are young at heart
care about future generations
try to do at least one thing (however small) each day to take good care of the planet
don't stop learning
do good things because that's just the right thing to do (not out of fear of hell and damnation)
and want to meet me:)
At GenCon 2007, I got to meet and talk with last year's "Who Wants to Be a Superhero?" and get my picture taken with him. His lovely wife, actress and stand up comic, Sarah Blevins took the photo for me.
I also got to meet actor Mark Sheppard, who played Badger in "Firefly." He'll soon be on TV again in "The Bionic Woman."
A friendly GenCon staffer took this photo for me.
I am not a terribly star struck person but it's fun when you can actually talk with some show business folks the way you can at GenCon. Since it is not a media con, the lines are not horribly long and there's time to chat a bit. That makes the experience more enjoyable than when you are just going through the autograph mill.
Here is a really spiffy video that will give you a taste of GenCon. Oh, I am so going back there next year and do True Dungeon!!!
On November 11th, 2007, I got to chat with Fat Momma and Parthenon from "Who Wants to be a Superhero." Here are my pics with these very cool folks.
Hi Ann! Went to jazz fest in New Orleans today!!! Saw Santana, Keb mo...and many others. It was awesome but a bit hot... and very muddy...as it had been raining the past couple of days! I love New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival though...there are so many stages/tents to choose from and its very international...and I like to people watch. lol
