Ambulette is the new expression of songs from Maura Davis. In the summer of 2004, Davis was thinking of how to get a new project off the ground. With a phone call to Chicago the Richmond, Virginia native enlisted bassist Stephen Howard and drummer Ryan Raspsys to begin working on her home-recorded demos(Chicagoans had served as the rhythm section for Maura's previous band Denali on their final U.S. tour). The three musicians began by sending discs back and forth from Virginia and Illinois. When songs had taken shape, Maura headed to the midwest to rehearse. Those rehearsals proved the songs had promise. The three made plans to record a demo EP the following month at Phantom Manor Studio in chicago. With Maura back in Chicago preparing for the session, a third Chicago talent, guitarist Matt Clark, was added to the group.
What the four members of the as-yet-unnamed band put to tape at the Manor is precisely the sum of it's parts. Davis's compositions draped over the expert rhythms and low-end melodies of Rapsys and Howard then warped by Clark's anaesthetizing guitar tone. All four can play the lights out.
Ambulette is a body holding great potential energy. They are now standing at the start overlooking vast opportunity. There is much anticipation. Following the release of a c.d. - e.p. on March 21 (Astralwerks), the band will be touring extensively this spring, while preparing to record a proper full-length record.
Thank you for being our friend!! We have been helping DC, Virginia and Maryland with their feral (wild) cat population since 1997. Our all-volunteer organization promotes non-lethal alternatives to control the feral cat population.
Wild or feral cats are trapped, neutered and then returned (TNR) to their "home", where we make sure there is a caretaker who can watch out for them and feed them.
Young kittens are rescued, socialized and adopted through our adoption program. Please visit our website to see about adopting a tame cat or kitten we have rescued who would like to live in a permanent home.
Great songs!! Lovin' the vocals, silky smooth! Thanks for acceptin' my friend request, sure hope you were into the tunes. Well, take it easy, and all the best to ya!
***please forward to as many other friends as possible***
Help Save Zion National Park and the Mojave Desert
Washington County Bill Is Still Unacceptable for Wilderness
On April 9, 2008, Senator Robert Bennett (R-UT) introduced S. 2834, the Washington County Growth and Conservation Act of 2008 -- a bill that would sell off thousands of acres of our public lands surrounding Zion National Park and in southwest Utah's Mojave Desert, divert conservation funding to be used for development projects, fail to protect over half of the proposed wilderness in Washington County, and leave sensitive wild lands at risk from off-road vehicle damage.
Please take the time to write to your Senators and urge them to oppose S. 2824 in its current form. Due to the efforts of Utah wilderness supporters, a similar bill was defeated in the last congressional session. With your help, we are confident that we can either fix the bill or defeat it once again!
Oh my dear Ambulette. The anticipaion of a new sound to my dishearted ears has me on standing on my toes. When will this magnificant glory be available to own? To hold in my hand? To stupify my stereo? When oh when.
Due to space litigation that has unfortunately done things to us of which we are not allowed to speak. I am forced to send you this note with no useful information. Our mind control (another thing that I am technically not supposed to be mentioning, not due to legalities, but due to your fragile frightened minds -- which we will soon totally own) project is running into even more difficulty than we were prepared for. We went into this with a “what doesn’t kill them makes them stronger” philosophy. Now, humbled greatly in our quest for "musical" success, we are taking a “whatever you do, try not to kill our potential fan base” tack. I know that I shouldn’t have told you any of this, but this gag order is really driving me insane lately. And don’t worry, the stuff that I can’t *legally* tell you is much more frightening than localized accidental fan-base genocide.
Thanks for your interest in our noise and mind control projects! Looking forward to your drone phase!
I still remember you guys as Bella Lea opening up for Engine Down on there farewell tour in Chicago. I drove 6 hours to see that show and I still think of how awesome that night was.
But I have a thing for the Davis children they are both so damn talented. Glos is phenomenal.
