In the summer of 1987 Kenneth and Ronny Sorkness met Gylve Fenriz Nagell for the very first time.

Gylve had just moved into the neighborhood where the Sorknessbrothers had their summerhouse. This young "lad" had the same tastein music as these two "metal-heads", and soon found out that theywere tuned into the same frequency. Gylve had enough music equipment to start aband, and he also had plans to start a band for a long time. After a while theystarted the band, Valhall. Kenth Robin Olsen joined in. Next years wascharacterized by hard work, rehearsing and recording. Already in 1988 was thefirst demo produced "Castle of death". The music style was a kind ofthrash metal with black metal sound. After a couple of months they recruitedLars Brede Jensen on guitar, also a childhood friend, and they continued torehearse in Gylve’s basement. In 1989 was a new demo released, it was entitled"Amalgamation”. The style was a kind of hardcore/funcore. But one day in1989 wanted Gylve to leave Valhall to concentrate on Darkthrone. Another demowas released in march 1991, "Pagan token", were Gylve played drumseven he was not a member of the band.

DARK YEARS

The yearsfrom 1989 to 1993 was a period with many changes of band members. Thomas Berglie(Khold) in 1989. Erik Lancelot(Ulver), replacedThomas in the spring of ’92. Erik left the band, and K. J. Lervåg(Paradigma)became the new drummer. Even Kenth Robin and Lars Brede left. But in the springof ’93 Gylve called and asked if he could join Valhall again, and things gotstarted. The summer of ’93 was used to rehearse new songs, and auditioning forlead guitarists. Geir Kolden was recruited on rhythm guitar. After a shortwhile Frode Malm was recruited on lead guitar. But one good thing came out ofthis period; Valhall got their own style inspired by doom metal bands likeSaint Vitus, Candlemass, Trouble, Sleep, and others.

BRIGHT FUTURE

In November’93 Valhall went into studio for the first time, to contribute on a samplercalled "The Reincarnation of the Sun". In 1995 was Valhall’s firstalbum, “Moonstoned” released on the legendary Metallion’s label, Head notfound. After this album Frode was given the boot, and Robin was back. A coupleof years are followed with playing live and let people know us. Frank Wanbergjoined the band on synth/organ. The CD "Heading for Mars" wasreleased in 1997. Then in the summer Geir left the band and Frank was our newman on lead guitar.

In year2000 Valhall recorded “Red planet” album. We have waited for the rightopportunity to release this album. And our time is now. We are excited about this and lookingforward to this with great pleasure. Housecore is a company close to Valhall’sheart. Like they say: ”The main goals with Housecore Records are obvious:This is music for the real complete true fan of the underground. The basics ofH.C.R. are the releasing of real music, first and foremost. Our main goal is toput more of the power and money into the hands of the artists creating themusic, while being on an independent label, sans all the bullshit”.Housecore Records.
