Longtime friends Anthony Nigro and Colin Wyatt formed Osgoods before they'd graduated high school, influenced by the '80s pop of the day.
They continued their affiliation -- the former on vocals and guitar, the latter on drums -- while they attended college together in Tuscon, AZ. During this time, the duo's songwriting evolved, influenced by the jangly side of R.E.M. and the Feelies, and some live performances resulted. It was at this point that Nigro and Wyatt sought a bass player in hopes of infiltrating Tuscon's local music scene. After two studio recordings, Watch Repair EP (1996) and Assistant Manager EP (1998), Osgoods decided to relocate to Los Angeles in 1998 with bassist David Jurs in tow. The band grew further after moving to L.A., incorporating vocal harmony and experimental elements into its sound, showcased in full bloom on the Automatic Do-Over album. ~ Jason Birchmeier
