Jumpcuts began as the brainchild of Andy Shankman, a longtime fixture on the Baltimore music scene who cut his teeth working on tour for the band Lake Trout.
Shankman formed the first incarnation of Jumpcuts after a flurry of songwriting activity that produced most of the songs on Electrickery. The songs were largely composed on guitar and thentransposed to synthesizer, Shankman slowly piecing together tracks on MIDI withco-arranger Gideon Breidegam. The gleaming keyboard lines were then recordedthrough amps and given muscle by producer Rob Girardi (Beach House) and drummerDavid Bergander (Celebration) at Lord Baltimore Studios.
