With a name like The Grand, this southern rock group has no option but to deliver an impressive album and energetic onstage performance.
The Grand is comprised of talented Pitt Meadows based musicians; Dallas Norrie on vocals, Anthony Fiddler and Ryan Stead on guitar and backing vocals, James Hrankowski on bass, and Neil Morgan on drums. The Grand formed back in 2011 with Norrie and Fiddler coming together and collaborating their musical talents to start piecing the puzzle together. From there, Norrie and Fiddler were introduced to Ryan Stead, and had inseparable chemistry. Ryan’s time, performing as a successful recording artist in the group "The Latency", (a national touring act opening for the likes of Hedley, State of Shock, Marianas Trench, Faber Drive) helped them gain not only industry knowledge but national notoriety. This will help in many ways moving forward with The Grand, having already performed over 35 shows and have even started their own outdoor music festival called Rocktoberfest. On March 15, 2014 they released their debut EP "The Rebel Son" to all online stores, including iTunes and Amazon. The album saw many industry big names like Randy Staub (ACDC, Bon Jovi, Nickelback) who mixed "Back Roads". The band also had Mark Needham (Imagine Dragons, Fleetwood Mac, The Killers) brought in to mix "Me or the Bottle". Met with positive reviews, critics often compare Norrie to Chris Cornell and Scott Stapp. Norrie feels that The Grand is a perfect project to showcase his vocal abilities; with all the blues, soul and plain out rock and roll your ears can handle. Fiddler has been broadening his horizons since a stint with local band “DeathPop”, and has gained influences from his older brother who played in the successful Universal Recording artist rock group "The Veer Union". He has an attention to detail, this explains his inherited nickname “Tone” ....you may just need to hear it. Stead says his true colors are seen and expressed through his six string symphonies and harmonic vocal chords, which shine both on record and during live performances. Hrankowski, with knowledge in many instruments, brings a big and dirty bass sound to drive the backbone of this bass heavy group, while Morgan, former partners with Fiddler's brother in "The Veer Union", adds to the low end which includes all the groove and rhythm-packed percussion you’ll ever feel. Together the five have created a young energetic Southern Rock & Roll band which will be sure to catch your attention. These five men all have their flaws, but they all have one thing in common: The Grand.
