Wade Stooksberry, hailing from Memphis, Tennessee, and Macon, Georgia, played with Clark Eason and the Greaseguns in his youth; a band that employed a volatile live presentation of punk, new wave, early rock ‘n’ roll, and British Invasion.

Meanwhile, Trena, a native Maconite, worked on perfecting her folk music performance and honing her vocal precision in choral groups and local theater. He played clubs while she played the Douglass Theater, Theatre Macon, and Macon Little Theater.

Later, in various incarnations and with other friends on drums and guitar, they played the Last Friday series at the Museum of Arts and Sciences; Washington Park; in Athens at the 40-watt Club; and the infamous Ball of Confusion lounge, as part of Macon’s nascent alternative scene in the 80s.

Now, they have melded their greatest loves: each other and their original music to form “The Doves” – a duo that covers the gamut from “alternative” originals to folk/rock, to blues, to a provocatively eclectic mix of covers.
