Sweden's Celophane Flower first formed in 1991 around the talents of Andy Hansson (drums), Pe Svensson (bass), and Jim Bragde (guitar).
The eclectic pop group's sound favors folk-rock and alternative country, but they aren't beholden to either and often mix the two with other modern pop styles. A keen sense of humor and history was on display right from the start with their first album from 1994, the humbly titled Greatest. The following year Celophane Flower released Songs for the Fat & Ugly and issued another ironically titled gem in 1997, Retrospective. Their consistent release schedule was interrupted after Spectacular Edition 3 in 1998 and it would be three years before the group unleashed another release. An EP, Thoroughly Alright and Decent Fellows, came out in 2001, followed shortly thereafter by their most mature and fully realized work to date, Too Good to Be Famous. ~ Wade Kergan
