Sun Shepherd formed in 2006 with Anson Antriasian on Guitar, Leigh Fischer on drums and vocals, and Daniel Pearson on synth/sound effects.
We were trying to go for a tectonic-plate-upheaval sound with big riffs, crazy atmospheric sound effects, and meteorite-impact-crater drums. We played some shows in Brisbane, Australia and made the album "Gravestoned" to showcase our work. There were a few other recordings at time too. Anson moved back to the states where he grew, and the band didn't exist anymore... there wasn't discussion of band status or anything. That was it!

But then a year later, after Anson finished doing whatever he was doing in the states, he moved to Melbourne and started jamming with Michael Barson, a totally awesome punk/stoner/jam inspired drummer, working on more riffy high-energy songs. Leigh Fischer (who had recently relocated to Melbourne with his band Skul Hazards) then came onboard, except this time as a bassist. It worked great, and a new mega-doom jam-based incarnation came into being, mostly being inspired by Earthless, High on Fire, and Electric Wizard. Michael and Leigh were a Juggernaut of a rhythm section, allowing for lots of jam-based guitar solos and doom-groove activity. A demo was released, and then a second full album, "Procession Of Trampling Hoof" was recorded at Little Gold studio. The band shared their sound with the public and played around Melbourne and Adelaide with local acts.
