Official 2014 GQ / Fame Music International DJ Contest Runner-Up
"Comeback" is the only word to describe Steve Callaghan as of 2014.
Originally exploding onto the Trance & Progressive scene back in 2005, Steve's productions gained the support of a plethora of huge names including Armin Van Buuren, Ferry Corsten, Tiesto & Paul Van Dyk to name but a few, getting radio play from ASOT, TATW, the BBC and Ministry of Sound. Add to this press features in Future Music, DJ Mag, IDJ, Mixmag & M8 it was clear to see Steve was heading only one way...
In 2008 Steve goes into partnership with German label 'No Border Recordings' and provides them with their first #1 on the Juno Progressive charts, DJ support from Cosmic Gate, Dave Dresden and Sied Van Riel and also uses his engineering skills to master various third party releases, whilst still finding time to graduate with a First Class Honours in Music Production!
For his dissertation Steve single handedly reverse engineered Ministry of Sounds very first 'Euphoria' compilation CD to create a mock '10th Anniversary Edition' which resulted in Steve being offered an internship in their compilations department, but this is where the story takes a rather unexpected turn...
Steve is hit with tinnitus due to performing at a particularly loud club night, and is forced to take a back seat from the scene to overcome his hearing problems. Heartbroken and understandably cautious, Steve spends the next couple of years away successfully undergoing treatment for his tinnitus and studying his engineering with a reignited passion.
2014 and Steve's back continuing his unique style which sits firmly between Nu Disco and Deep House, with his 80s, Trance & Progressive influences never far behind. His latest Mini Mixes have gone from strength to strength hitting the the Mixcloud Nu Disco top 100 in May, June & July respectively, and is currently working a residency for global Fashion brand Topshop, not to mention putting the finishing touches to a brand new EP!
it is true what they say:
"You have to go away to come back".
