Sunny and perfectly understated, Bloomington, Indiana trio Sleeping Bag evoke the lazy days of summery pop and '90s guitar lo-fi.
Formed by Dave Segedy, the band came together when the singer/drummer decided to expand the sound of his solo project, Whoa Bro Awesome. Segedy recruited guitarist Lewis Rogers and bassist David Woodruff, and together the three began to create the band's sleepy take on power pop, putting the focus on melody while allowing the music to be both rocking and subdued. In 2011, the trio made its debut with the eponymous Sleeping Bag, released on Joyful Noise. Women of Your Life followed in 2012, and the fuzzier Deep Sleep was issued in 2014 with the new lineup of Segedy, bass player Glenn Myers, and guitarist Tyler Smith. The roster changed again for their fourth LP, which featured Trevor Moore on bass and Reilly Shanahan on guitar. ~ Gregory Heaney & Marcy Donelson
