I feel am fortunate and blessed to be born in Punjab, India but also equally lucky to call USA my other home!!!

My father Sardar Gurdial Singh Dhaliwal retired as a PCS (Punjab Civil Services) officer holding key positions in Punjab and U.T. Govt. while my late beloved mother Sardarni Rajwant Kaur retired was a school principal who was born at Chak#32, Lahore. My paternal Dhariwal family hails from village Jethuwal, District Amritsar, Punjab but was settled in Lahore before partition. My grandfather Sardar Gurcharan Singh Dhariwal was a law graduate and a gazzeted officer of Punjab High Court while my paternal grandmother Sardarni Tej Kaur was only sister of 4 brothers of a Sidhu family of village Gadli, District Amritsar, called Akalis because that family had been baptised at Sri Akal Takht Sahib.. My family Dhariwals of Jethuwal is a educated and aristocratic one. Our one ancestor Sardar Jai Singh Dhariwal became a shaheed or martyr when he defended the Chamb (lake) of our village . There is a memorial on our land in Jethuwal for our shaheed ancestor as well as one Gurdwara called Kutiya Sahib built in Jethuwal by Dhariwals. Likewise my material family background was also very noble, pious and rich one who went about reciting holy prayers during their daily lives.

My dad Sardar Gurdial Singh Dhaliwal is an illustrious person whose life and times are immortal. He was an honest, efficent and altruistic administrator whose adversaries who bribed union people to raise slogans against him could not deny the fact of him being an honest person. Even before becoming a PCS officer he specialized in recruitment because of which he helped many a people time and again. He was rarest of rare recommendation of former PM Indira Gandhi Ji and Chief Secretary Punjab to the PCS.

My mom was insturmental in shaping my intellect besides the obvious impact of my father. She taught me several wonderful things. She told me atleast a thousand time about discovery of America by Christopher Columbus, Honorable Abe Lincoln who signed emancipation proclamation, Thomas Edison who invented the light bulb, 9th Sikh Guru Teg Bahadur Jee who gave his life inorder to protect India because of which he came to be called Hind Di Chadar, Prince Siddhartha who later became Lord Buddha, Lady with the lamp Florence Nightingale, French gladiators who were some of the bravest people the world has seen, Jhansee Ki Rani who fought for Independence - she used to sing her song to me when I was a baby besides the shabad of Bhagat Pralad, hardworking black race, Nature-loving American Indians, fair-minded British Indian ICS officers, only other Sikh story of Sikh General Baba Banda Singh Bahadur and Guru Nanak coming to meet his sister Nanaki in an instant when she would cook and think of him(this was yet another of the songs she sung to me), and her own uncle Col. Gurbaksh Singh Dhillon of INA who had his Japanese-trained army surrendar to British because he figured that a court trail in India could help trigger/alienate/revolt against British in India - an action which led to several subsequent incidents due to which British actually had to leave India. Col G.S. Dhillon never took any credit for this but always maintained that his leader General Subhash Chander Bose was a very smart leader. Last but not the least was my moms fascination with mother Kangaroos who carried their babies in their bellies and the Ship of the desert called camel.

I have one elder brother Harpreet a CPA and Financial Systems Analyst since long in America. He is married to Baljinder and has 3 adorable sons - Dilraj Dilveer and Rajveer all of whom are my favorite and ones whom I like to spoil all the time

I like to spend my time in blogging, listening to Gurbani thought and kirtan, taking care of my elderly father and having get-togethers with family and friends!
