Half-Japanese and half New Zealander, Simon began to play the drums from age 14.

Before Simon moved to Tokyo, Japan in 2009 He was drumming in many different bands and doinga lot of session work in New Zealand and Australia weather if that was recording, live or music video work. Simon also taught many private drum students in Auckland, New Zealand, where he grew up and lived for most of his life. While living in Auckland, New Zealand, Simon performed as a member of various music groups and worked as a private music instructor. Having studied drum set at Avondale College and Excel School Of Performing Arts, Simon had the chance to study with a number of influential drummers, including New Zealand renowned drummers Paul Russel and Frank Gibson. Simon is skilled in various styles, such as Funk, Jazz, Reggae, Pop, Punk, R&B, and Gospel.

Simon has performed internationally in such countries as New Zealand, Australia, America and Japan. Some artists he has worked with are Terry Christian, Kat McDowell, Jeff Curry, Our Space, Derek Short, Kaleb James, Taylor Swift, J-Pop sensation Koda Kumi and The Talented Ed Sheeran. His experiences in Japan include TV live performances on such networks as NHK, TV Asahi, TBS And on Nihon TV's "Sukkiri". He has also played many private parties for fashion labels which include Tommy Hilfiger, Bvlgari, Amazon, Supre and more.

Simon continues to work as a studio/live musician, drum instructor in Tokyo and uploads some free drum lesson videos on YouTube for drummers who are trying to improve

He also regularly does Jazz shows at the Andaz Hotel in Toranomon, Tokyo with French Violin master, Paul Florea.

サイモン･マクドゥエル　プロフィール

多彩な国際経験を持つ東京在住のプロドラマー、スタジオ･ミュージシャン、ドラム講師。

日本人の母とニュージーランド人の父を持ち、ニュージーランド･オークランドで育つ。14歳でドラムを始め、アボンデール･カレッジ（高等学校）とニュージーランドの名門音楽学校エクセル・スクール・オブ・パフォーミングアーツでドラムを専攻。在学中、さまざまな実力派ドラマーから指導を受ける機会に恵まれ、特に国内屈指のプロドラマーであるPaul RussellとFrank Gibson Jnrに師事し、スキルを磨く。高い技術を身につけた彼の音楽ジャンルは、ジャズ、レゲエ、ポップ、ファンク、R&B、ゴスペルなど多岐に及ぶ。

卒業後はニュージーランドおよびオーストラリアで多数のバンドとセッションを重ね、レコーディングへの参加、ライブ活動、音楽ビデオ出演といった経験を積む。また、ドラム講師としても活躍し、多くの生徒にレッスンを行った後、2009年より東京へ拠点を移す。

これまでにニュージーランド、オーストラリア、アメリカ、日本など世界各地でプレーをし、Terry Christian、Kat、Jeff Curry、Our Space、Chasedown、Derek Short、Kaleb James、Taylor Swift、Ed Sheeran、そしてJ-Popのスターである倖田來未など数々のミュージシャンやバンドのライブでサポートドラマーを務める。日本ではNHK、テレビ朝日、TBSといったテレビ局の音楽番組でライブパートに出演。さらにTommy Hilfiger、Amazon、Supreをはじめとする大手企業主催のパーティでも演奏する。

現在もスタジオおよびライブミュージシャン、ドラム講師として幅広く活動するほか、動画サイトYouTubeにドラム技術向上のための無料レッスンビデオをアップロードし、話題を集めている。当分はアンダーズ東京ホテルでレギュラージャズライブもやっています。
