Torres didn't pick up a guitar until ninth grade when his father insisted he do so and after catching a Cheap Trick concert. Eventually, Torres formed Quickie along with his two comrades, resulting in a recording contract with the Music Blitz label, and their 2000 debut disc, Dropping the Why. A number of the album's songs cropped up elsewhere, including the sports videos Board Wild, Core Culture, and Extreme 16, as well as the TV shows Felicity and American High, the movie (and its subsequent soundtrack) Our Lips Are Sealed, and the compilation Wayne Kramer Presents Beyond Cyberpunk. Torres sums up Quickie's approach perfectly with the quote, "We're just three sloppy guys having a good time." ~ Greg Prato
