Guitarist,composer and music producer, Pawel Ignatowicz, was born on December 20th, 1980in Żywiec, Poland, into musical family.
Influenced by his parents, bothmulti-instrumentalist, Pawel spent his childhood playing variousinstruments. His musical interestsranged from folk of the Beskid Zywiecki’s Highlands to the NewOrleans Dixieland Jazz.
At the ageof 8, he began to attend the Polish National Music School where he studiedclarinet and saxophone. A coupleyears later he found his true love in guitar and started to concentratepreliminary on mastering this instrument.
After finishinghigh school he continued education at the University of Silesia where he studyjazz under Prof. Karol Ferfecki, a distinguished jazz guitarist himself. After graduation Pawel moved to NewYork to search for his own musical identity.
Themusical sensibility of this young composer was influenced by a myriad offactors, from his childhood fascination with the compositions ofFreddie Mercury through the virtuosity of Steve Vai and to the music ofJohn Coltrane. It is because of the influence of this saxophonist that Pawelbecame interested in jazz and found his musical identity. In hiscompositions, Pawel combines varies categorises and styles ranging from straightahead jazz to fusion with elements of Jimi Hendrix and contemporary classicalmusic of Steve Reich and Philip Glass. However, Pawel still remains open to newinfluences and trends, and wants to create musical spaces without theboundaries set by classification, placing emphasis on what is best inharmony and tone.
Pawelperformed with many distinguished musicians including Richie Cannata (BillyJoel, Celine Dion, Jennifer Lopez, the Beach Boys, Bernie Williams), JohnBenitez (Chick Corea), Axel Tosca Laugart, Benito Gonzalez (Kenny Garrett),Glenn Zaleski (Ravi Coltrane), Julian Shore, Joe Berger, Luques Curtis (GaryBurton, Eddie Palmieri, Brian Lynch, Paquito D'Rivera), Cris Clark, DanaHawkins (Me'Shell Ndegéocello, Esperanza Spalding), Adam Baldych, Mariusz Orzełowski(Muariolanza), Marek Dykta, Sławomir Jaskułke, Maciej Sikała, to name just afew.
At the beginning of 2008, he released his first album, entitled “Talk To YouLater”. In 2011, he recorded the soundtrack to the film by RafalJanus “Double Breath”.
Asof early 2013, he regularly performs in a variety of musical venues in NewYork.
