The Project called The Nightfaring (an avant-garde doom-gothic band) has been born approximately fifteen years ago in order to play classical and medieval music mixed to gothic/black metal and to bring my vision of personal growth, the band was called Aiwass.
The players were: Aiwass (Luca – keyboards, bass guitar and voice) and Rha (Orazio – electric guitars). Due to difficulties in order to find other players the project was set aside; the project changed name to Eternal Sorrow and subsequently De Occulta Philosophia following the same musical direction, the players were Aiwass (Luca – keyboards, electric guitars and voice) and Thor (Daniele – electric bass and voice). After some years the ways of the founder players re-joined and new players were found. The name of the new-born band was changed from De Occulta Philosophia to The Nightfaring, the players were Aiwass (Luca – keyboards, bass guitar and voice), Rha (Orazio – electric guitar), Cesare (electric guitar), Elena (voice) and Corrado (drums); the composition of the band changed again: players were: Samael (Luca – keyboards and voice), Cesare (electric guitars), Elena (voice), Giulio (drums) and Jack (bass guitar). The band played both old and new songs. During 2005, we yet again experienced some difficulties and the band was set aside again. During summer of 2007 The Nightfaring went to life again. All the songs narrate a unique story. Nightfaring is middle-english word: it means The Nightly Voyage. It represents my concept of personal growth: let us say something like Dante's Divina Commedia; nightly because irrationality (I think it is more important than rationality and represents our true self) in psychology is represented by the night - we can also call them unconscious and conscious. The end of this voyage is being our true self, purified from hypocrisy of modern society, and be proud of, it also implies the search for our roots and be proud of.
