Neurobash is a musical constellation fronted by swedish vocalist and keyboardist Ewan ”Oberfunker” Kelley and electronic musician Patrik ”G-Nome” Nelson of Southern Sweden.
The band has consisted of many different named – and unnamed – members during the past, but can today be described as a creative duo with a very open mind for unexpected collaborations.

With a common past in both the heavy industrial synth scene as well as highly emotional art music, Neurobash strives to combine the both with strong influences of pop music, often in quite experimental ways.

The original constellation Neurobash was formed in the rural town of Eslöv, Sweden, by electronic musician Johan Andersson and guitarist and vocalist Per Nordahl in 2004. Vocalist Anders Thomasson teamed up with the initial duo for the first live performances at local clubs and at an art installation at the old water tower in Eslöv.

The next year saw the independent release of a first EP entitled MECHANICAL BODY MACHINES, reaching some success in the local underground scene. It was followed up with a second EP with the title A SECOND CHANCE, which led to the band being signed to Electric Fantastic Sound and initially a re-relase of the second EP with a remix signed Daniel Brandt. Daniel later that year teamed up as backing vocalist and keyboardist for the live lineup of Neurobash.

In early 2006 Neurobash released a first single on EFS, SHALLOW POOL, and started the year as a support act for Spetznas in Malmö, Sweden. This year saw the creation of the soundtrack album LADONIAN INCIDENTS resulting from the writing of over two full hours of music for the 10 year anniversary of the micro-nation of Ladonia. The material was performed live in the first electrically powered concert in the history of the rather inaccessible nation, to which all equipment had to be shipped with boat and powered by portable diesel generators. Neurobash was appointed national band of Ladonia for the endeavour.

2007-2008 was a time of many collaborations and live performances of what should best be described as place-specific art music. 2008 the rather unexpected collaboration with legendary composer and swedish electronica pioneer Ralph Lundsten also resulted in the album THE NAKED MOON AND THE VIRGIN SUN.

The same year Neurobash also engaged in the writing of music for an unnamed musical by the provocative Swedish sculptor and visual artist Lars Vilks. The endeavour was ended, however, when the realisation dawned that the intended dialogue around the freedom of speech contra religion awoken by Vilks’ vision was by far already too infected to be a constructive one. The threatening situation stirring around the project ultimately resulting in the leaving of all original members of the band, and some time later Neurobash leaving Electric Fantastic Sound.

2009 the band was reformed by Patrick “G-Nome” Nelson together with Ewan “Oberfunker” Kelley under an own label, Tigon Media, co-founded by producers Daniel Brandt and Dan Niels. The year saw the light of a first release with Ober on vocals, entitled ANTITYPE EP, which was quickly followed up by the remix collection ANTITYPE RMX.

New collaborations followed, resulting in two improvised cross-bread art performances on Trolleholm Castle and the esteemed Palladium theatre in Malmö, the collaboration with the swedish painter Illona Popermajer and gallery owner Hans Tapper of Galleri Tapper-Popermajer. The music, loosely based on Mussorgskij’s Pictures at an Exhibition as was the artwork of Popermajer, remains as yet unreleased in album format.

In 2010 ANTITYPE EP was finally fallowed up by the full length album STEREOTYPE and a remix album exclusively available via SoundCloud.

Neurobash was also featured on the compilation Electronic Body Matrix 1 by Alfa-Matrix, collecting songs with the ambition to be an up-to-date anthology of the EBM and electro / industrial scene.

2012 has been dedicated to the writing of brand new material and remix works for various artists. After a past with many collaborations, Ober and G-Nome has taken a few steps back, working alone on the writing to find the way back to the essence of Neurobash. The resulting RISE BEFORE THE FALL is a story all their own, bringing the bands two different paths of experimental art music and pop-influenced industrial electro closer together than ever before.

This is the beginning of the future …
