Many pianist struggle to acquire their own identity, constantly conforming like a chameleon in a never ending quest to find what fits.
Then there are others that emerge fully formed; in full command of their craft, their sound, and their identity. Kenny Peagler fits firmly in the latter category. Currently, he is writing music for his new album, The Road Ahead, which is sure to a captivating and moving debut that heralds the arrival of a gifted and significant talent. One whose music is easy on the ears, moving to the soul, and feels extremely familiar in the best possible way.

Growing up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Kenny was immersed in the rich tradition of Classical and Jazz music at an early age. ”As someone crossing over from studying Classical piano to Jazz, I became infatuated with the ability to create music that allowed me to tell my story and share my feelings musically”, says Kenny. After studying Classical piano and Jazz, Kenny began to explore different genres and became heavily involved with Gospel, Musical Theater, and R&B. Mastering so many different genres of music helped make him one of the most well rounded pianist on the scene.

For the past ten years, he has been a sideman on six nationally released recordings and has toured extensively across the United States, Europe, and Asia. In the spring of 2013, he is featured as a pianist and arranger on the album Leo Rising by Aaron Myers. On that project, Kenny also composed the sultry ballad “All I Want To Do” as well as an arrangement of “When I Fall In Love.” Kenny currently resides in Manhattan, New York City.
