Stand up and bang your heads rock-metal lovers, MJM has taken the stage!

MJM are the initials of the band’s front man and driving creative force, Michael J. Miller - a musician known by fans for beingan original rock-metal artist and definite crowd pleaser.

Miller knew he was destined to be a musician from a young age. His initial clue was being able to arrange songs for multiple instruments at the age of 12. In his hometown of Goderich, Ont., he started his first band,Touch. Although the members were only in high school, they opened for notable bands such as Lighthouse and Goddo.

The climb to success continued for Miller when he moved to Toronto at 18. Within a year his band Rapid Tears was prominent on the Toronto music scene.

The first Rapid Tears album, “Honestly,” featured “Head Bang”, a finalist in Q107.1’s Rock Wars competition, beating out usual favourites Thin Lizzy, 10cc and Streetheart (later Loverboy)

“Cry for Mercy” was Rapid Tears’ second album. It was featured on CityTv’s “The New Music,”which aired countless times across Canada. Rapid Tears was the focus of the show’s Metal Meltdown Week.

After the split of RapidTears, Miller wrote numerous solo songs, went to college to learn the science of sound recording and began working as a music teacher. Miller has been teaching music enthusiasts of all ages for 17 years. He is the Canadian representative for the prestigious Registry of Guitar Tutors program from ThamesValley Universityin England.

“I get a great feeling when I see I’ve been able to expand music awareness,” Miller said of teaching. “But giving up on my own music is not an option!”

Thus, Miller brought together the band Adrenalin, who signed with the German record label Long Island Records. Adrenalin promptly released the album“Dedicated” in 1995. It was distributed and sold in more than 30 countries worldwide. However, Miller hadn’t quite found that perfect mix for a band in Adrenalin. It didn’t take him long to find the solution.

The first MJM album titled “Ascension” was released in 2003, comprised of original songs written and arranged by Miller.But, perhaps the most powerful and poignant album to be released by MJMis their newest, “The Valley of the Kings.”

MJM has music videos for Valley of the Kings singles “Black Eyed Susan” and “TheDogs of War” available for viewing on YouTube. The album is available forsale on iTunes, Napster, Amazon.ca and CDbaby.com.
