Dutch/Moluccan guitarist Maurice Rugebregt’s second album as a leader finds him sharing the front line with the Brazilian vocalist Lilian Vieira (Zuco 103) featured on two tracks and fronting a rhythm section that includes keyboardist Ronald Kool, bassist Paddy van Rijswijk, drummer Mark Stoop and percussionist Udo Demandt.

The bassist and the drummer would lead you naturally to expect a certain funkiness, and you do get some of that on this all-original program: The music of NEXT combines various pop grooves with a complex Brazilian harmonic structure.
