Title: Time Machine, a Site Specific Sound Installation
Venue: PK Sen Building, Chittagong, Bangladesh
Date: 22July 2016- 31July 2016
I developed this work while participating in the 5th season Uronto Art Exchange Program in Chittagong, Bangladesh.
We stayed in a historical building called the PK Sen Building which located in Chittagong, Bangladesh during the exchange program. The building was approximately constructed in 1920, however, the building is not in good condition due to lack of maintenance. Many parts in the building are falling apart, rubbles are everywhere and very fragile.
This is a machine to hear time passing.
I made this work with a local cookie can and put the rubbles from the building inside.
Each of them is carrying time and history.remove

I participated this program in July this year. It's a mind opening and very unique experience to me.
I had chances to know more about the culture, music of Bangladesh, getting to know and exchange ideas with local artists.
I cherish the days when I was there. I will definitely go Bangladesh again to deeper my understanding of this beautiful, soulful and colourful country. Thanks for Sadya to create this amazing residency, and her team to make all the artists comfortable and satisfied. Thanks PK Sen Building, the building we were staying and get inspirations to our work. Thanks for the Ghoose family with their warm welcome. Thanks for the people I have met and play music with. I called it rice machine, because I used rice as the element to produce sound. Every grain of rice represent life. Rice has to go through a tube with all kind of nails, screws or clips. They make the rice go slower or sometime they stop them from going. At the end of the tube, there is a rice cooker. That's our desitination.
