Spanish heavy metal band Maria del Mal got involved in Granada's rock scene in the early '90s.
The band started playing under the name of Némesis and its members were known by their nicknames, Dani on guitar/vocals, Osorio on drums, Miki on guitar, and Dum Dum on bass. While being in Sevilla, singer/guitarist Dani recorded an EP called Maria del Mal. When it was listened to by a label executive, a proposition to change the band's name was accepted. After Jaime López replaced Dum Dum on bass, Maria del Mal recorded its first album, called Cuando Crei Que Estaba Solo, in December of 1997. ~ Drago Bonacich
