b. Lilly Crozier, 13 September 1951, Renfrew, Ontario, Canada.
As a young child Green began singing in a gospel duo with her sister. Both performed frequently at church congregations as well as local television shows. At age 15 she took her first guitar lessons, subsequently launching a solo career as a contemporary Christian singer-songwriter. She moved to Michigan, USA, to seek further musical tuition, before embarking on a tour of Scandinavia with the Solid Rock Foundation. She moved on to California in 1972 but she remained an active member of evangelical church communities. She married Kelly Green in the mid-70s, joining the Shekinah Fellowship of which he was the Minister of Music. She calls her music a ‘kind of soul contemporary’, exemplified by songs such as ‘God, A Woman And A Man’, a song written for her husband that she sang at their wedding. She began her recording career for Myrrh Records with Especially For You in the mid-70s, an album that enjoyed considerable acclaim in gospel circles.
