Lena Tjäder, the singer from Malmoe, Sweden, is currently based in Berlin, Germany and is writing songs for both a forthcoming gospel record and a new jazz release that will show old fans the blossoming maturity in her voice and songwriting as well as the experience she has gained as a bandleader in several Berlin soul and jazz projects.
Her debut album 'New York Street Kiss' (2006) shows her joy in writing music and the strength and precision she developed through her studies at the prestigious New School jazz program in New York, NY, and through her teaching and performance in Sweden. On the album you feel her mix of inspiration from New York´s jazzscene and old Swedish melodies like "Minnen".

Lena was born 1968 in Motala, Sweden and has always performed in interesting projects. Some might recognise Lena from her gigs as a barpianist at Rose´s in New York or gigs together with, among others, Charli Persips Supersound.

Consider buying this CD if you want dark, powerful, soulblues-saturated and New York-inspired Swedish jazz
