Kevin Eamon: Musician/Audio Engineer and Owner of Rock My House Music Centre.
In 1971 he was born in Winchester, Ontario and grew up in Morrisburg,Ontario.
As a child, it was apparent that his two main passions in life were drumming and goal-tending. Kevin’s natural abilities in sports and his drive to learn the art of drumming kept him really busy growing up as a youth. Having to travel for hockey both in summer and winter plus finding time to practice his instrument was becoming extremely challenging. He knew a decision had to be made-hockey is a hobby and music is forever!
Kevin had his first drum lessons at the age of eleven. By the age thirteen, entering high school, he was encouraged to participate in the senior band filling a spot as a percussionist. The honor was all his.
After high school, Kevin moved to Ottawa and attended one year at Algonquin College in the Arts and Science Program. During this time he found his mentor drum teacher, Lorne Kelly. He followed lessons for four years.
At the young age of twenty, he joined his first real band (Loxley) and really dove into the Ottawa music scene. Soon after the band released their first Extended Play demo and Kevin was nominated Drummer of the Year in the 1991 Ottawa Music Awards. He went on to play with a variety of different bands including different genres.
By the mid nineties Kevin joined another band(Fleshpaint) that had support from a Canadian record label and their first release made it on the Canadian Billboard Charts (Cigarette Religion). Due to extensive video and airplay, the band was picked up by an American record label. However, after an unforeseeable circumstance, the band was released from the label and their members went their separate ways.
Kevin returned to the Ottawa area where he continued teaching drums and playing in local bands (Tycoons, Sound, and Sigma7).
His next venture was to move to Toronto and work with a band (Chop Suicide) that sought his expertise. The band practiced at The Rehearsal Factory, a fully equipped rehearsal studio. This was Kevin’s first encounter of what is now part of his business venture. Not having to carry, setup and take down equipment made it easier to practice and grow as a band. Once the band was tight enough they set out playing various venues across Ontario and a three week tour in the United Kingdom. Shortly after returning from the UK Tour, Kevin wanted to expand his education and enrolled in a school for Audio Engineering where he received a diploma in Sound and Music Recording.Kevin chose this program because he wanted to record and produce his own music.Another aspect he is choosing to add in the future to his business venture.
In summary, with his experience, education and passion Kevin is choosing a unique business concept. Drum lessons, fully equipped rehearsal studio and a small music store to enlighten and build creative minds and introduce music therapy for the love of music in all.
