大阪出身1985年生まれ。小学生の頃トランペット、後にギターを始める。

2007年奨学金を得てバークリー音楽院に短期留学。

2010年 日米録音のデビューアルバム “KARMA UNDER THE SUN”を発表。

“UKIYO BAND”、”Sirabe”、リーダートリオ・グループ、”あるはっと” 等のプロジェクトで活動中。

日本音楽のエレメントをとり入れた独創的な演奏と作曲のスタイルで注目される。

Guitarist /Composer Kaoru Tanaka was born and raised in Osaka JAPAN in 1985.

He started playing his first acoustic guitar and trumpet at the age of 12.

In 2007 he attended to Berklee College of Music in Boston for a semester.

KARMA UNDER THE SUN(2010) – kaoru’s first debut album was recorded with ten musicians in boston & kobe. This features his primitive way of combine east & west in Jazz fusion music context.

Now he is a band leader for UKIYO BAND(with Taku Yabuki-Keyboard/synthesizer,Katsuji Morioka-Bass,Tomohide Kinugasa-Drums)- a new contemporary jazz&rock with flavors of floating world (japanese edo period 16~18C) this band deeply seek the cross point of not only east & west but new & old and many other contradict cultures.

And also, a band leader for S i r a b e (with Ryo Hatakeyama-double bass,Toshihiro Yuta-Taiko drums) which is rare instrumentation for create new japanese rhythm music. He works with musicians as leader trio and quartet constantly. Kaoru is also known as having one-of-a-kind song writing skills.
