With more than three decades of experience in the field of music education, John Eckstine most recently served as a high school band director at Spring-Ford Area High School in Royersford, Pennsylvania.
Currently, John Eckstine has set aside his director’s baton to pursue a new career in the financial services industry as a credit analyst with Citibank Credit Services in Hagerstown, Maryland. John Eckstine earned his BS in music education from Frostburg State University in Frostburg, Maryland. He also went on to complete additional courses in music education from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia and in wind conducting from West Chester University in West Chester, Pennsylvania. As a band director, John Eckstine enjoyed a long and distinguished career, having directed bands at various high schools in Pennsylvania and Maryland. Prior to Spring-Ford Area High School, Mr. Eckstine directed the band at Boonsboro Senior High School in Boonsboro, Maryland. Before that, he served in the same capacity at Williamsport High School and at Clear Spring High School, both located in Maryland. In addition to directing, John Eckstine enjoys attending the symphony, having been at performances by the Baltimore, Boston, and Philadelphia symphonies. Mr. Eckstine also holds membership in several industry organizations, including the Maryland Band Directors Association and the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association
