Jens Unmack is a Danish singer/songwriter who garnered fame as a member of the critically acclaimed alternative rock band Love Shop before embarking on a successful solo career in 2005.
Born on April 26, 1964, he co-founded Love Shop in 1986 in Copenhagen. Also comprised of Hilmer Hassig, Henrik Hall, and Mikael Dehn, the band made its album debut in 1990 with 1990. Subsequent albums released during the decade include DK (1992), Billeder Af Verden (1994), Go! (1997), and Det Løse Liv (1999). After the turn of the century Love Shop released a couple Top Ten albums, Anti (2001) and National (2003), and then splintered in 2004, the year in which the retrospective compilation Sendt Fra Himlen 1990-2004 was released to Top Five success. Following his departure from Love Shop, Unmack made his solo album debut in 2005 with Vejen Hjem Fra Rocknroll. Produced by Nikolaj Nørlund, the album was a Top Five hit. The follow-up albums Aftenland Express (2007) and Dagene Løber Som Heste (2009) were also produced by Nørlund and were similarly successful. ~ Jason Birchmeier
