Jay Napoli
Started his studies at the age of 10, that was when he took classes in classical guitar at the Conservatorio Paulistano for 4 years. “These 4 years at the Conservatory were very important, because I was in touch with many instruments”. From then on, he was a part of various garage bands.
In 1987 Jotinha was invited to join the band that accompanied o “Trem da Alegria” (was a children's musical band based in Brazil. During their career from 1984 to 1992, they released eight albums whose total sales exceeded six million copies), but he didnt stay for long, because Luciano (ex-member of the band) was starting his solo career, in which Jotinha would participate. This was his first professional contact.
After this, he worked as a sideman for many other artists such as: Raul Seixas (as a guitarist), Rossana Torres (for whom he was a producer), Guns n' Roses Cover, Afonso Nigro (ex-Domino Group), Deborah Blando, Wander Taffo, Projeto Synchro which had as a vocalist Jay Vaquer, the son of Jane Duboc, Jotinha also worked with Patricia Coelho, Gwen Leathers (Stevie Wonder's back vocals) Grabrielle Goodman (music teacher at Berklee College – Jazz vocal & improvisation). Jotinha played at concerts for Sandy & Junior, the Group Rouge and nowdays with singer Fabio Jr.
Jotinha participated in various workshops for Fender in Brazil, also was a part of the video-classes of Sydnei Carvalho and Mauricio Leite and later he recorded the CD for the band V8 in which both of them were musicians. Participated on the recording of the Brazilian Team album, developed by the american drums brand Pearl, in which he played bass and keyboards. Jotinha participated in the album “Guitarras” (Guitars) released by the magazine Cover Guitarra.
He is also a jingles and vignette producer. He has been a part of many jingles, as a musician, producer and vocalist, for companies like BRADESCO, FIAT, FORD, PERNAMBUCANAS, GILLETE, RENAULT, NISSAN, CLARO and ADES.
In 2001 he participated in the release of the album of FUNKACID, in which he plays bass and does the vocals, with renowned musicians in the music scene.
He helped in the development of the strings NIG for bass, for whom he is a brand endorser. Jotinha also has the support of the brand Zaganin Instruments and Hendrix Store.
In 2010, Jotinha, Marcelo Macedo and Afonso Nigro started a production partnership (JN Produções), and together they are responsible for over 20 soundtracks in TV broadcasters, such as SBT and Record. In one of the major TV broadcaster, SBT (that belong to Silvio Santos Group), JN Produções has soundtracks in all of the SBT TV news (Jornal do SBT, SBT Brasil, Conexão Repórter, Jornal SBT Manhã and Jornal da Semana SBT). Also JN Produções participated in Carrossel soap opera soundtrack production.
