Coming straight out of the endless sea of open expanse in America’s heartland known as the Midwest, Jared Kimball carries with him an eclectic sound that so appropriately characterizes the place where sweet refrains from songs of the past share the air with the energetic drive of modern city life. Born and raised in the bustling microcosm of Champaign-Urbana, Illinois, which has produced such famed artists as 70’s rock band REO Speedwagon, rapper Ludacris, and all-time leading Grammy Award winner Alison Krauss, the road that has brought the 24-year-old singer-songwriter to where he is now, and wherever he is headed off to next, is long and winding indeed. From dirt paths through the silent forests of his native land to the avenues of fast-paced European metropolises and just about everywhere in between, it is in many ways from the stories of this journey that Jared draws the inspiration for his music.

A child of music since the very beginning, some of Jared’s first memories come in the form of watching his father play bass guitar late into the night alongside U2’s live performance video, “Rattle and Hum,” and though the guitar around the neck of that little child was no more than just a toy, it is now a tool which he employs fluently in his search to release the music that grows inside of him. His songs offer an organic distillation of the artists who have most strongly shaped his musical experience. Years of studying guitar both independently and with an instructor of virtuoso qualification have helped ease him into the level of comfort as an artist that he now enjoys, a comfort which is effortlessly displayed through his work. Whether performing on stage or writing new material, it is the thrill of discovery that keeps the musical journey alive. Never one to allow the confines of just one genre limit his expression, his songs offer listeners a chance to step inside his soul and experience it for themselves.

Along with developing his craft, Jared is also currently working as an intern with the Fondazione Gioventù Musicale d’Italia and finishing his thesis on the Power of Network Structures in Influencing Musicians’ Career Success for his master’s degree in Economics & Management of the Arts, Culture, Media, and Entertainment at Università Bocconi. Jared performs in the Milan area both as a solo artist as well as with the Jared Kimball Trio. Upcoming projects include recording and producing a record for a jazz ensemble, a writing collaboration with a Swiss electro-pop duo, co-writing with an Italian pop singer, and the release of his demo, The Homecoming EP.
