Ready, set, go!
I was born on June 6, 1990. Bonafide Gemini, baby! A quick skim through astrology.com will tell you something like, “the Gemini-born are those of fierce intellect and curiosity, ever probing people and places in search of information and then later joyously communicating that often random information with those they love (as well as anyone who will listen, or even just pretend to) as Geminis are superdeduper devoted to developing theirrelationships,” plus or minus a few adjectives, etc. Well, I’m about as Gemini as they come: I love to talk, I love to ask questions, and I love making friends (especially the kind I can talk to and ask more questions). So Jac, why not just host a talk show??? Boom! Welllllll, the plan was to study Oprahism (which unfortunately wasn’t approved at any of the colleges I applied to), but my family assured me that a business degree would be more practical. On my first day of college, however—or whenever it was we Sharpied out our futures, I just couldn’t envision an education or future career that didn’t allow for creativity everyday. Since elementary, I had become so accustomed to singing, dancing, and general artsy-fartsery everyday that it just didn’t make sense to quit. So that’s when I said “SCREW IT!” and decided to double in Business and Performing Arts. (Any late-May/early-June babies will tell you that we fail at making up our minds, and decisions like what to major in or whether to go burrito or burrito bowl at Chipotle are all BFDs)

At first, the decision got a lot of mixed reviews, but I was like, hello? Music INDUSTRY??? OBVI you need be business savvy, people! But more than the possible marketing strategies to reach audiences or the best singing techniques to woo my fans—some pretty important ish if the new definition of ”daydreamining” is ever gonna catch on… I learned the greater lesson of just forgetting all that stuff. Because really, music isn’t about the number of notes you hit OR the number of hits you get. It’s about telling a story—your story and others’. THAT’S why I continued to pursue music. Music is about relationships. And remember? I’m all up on that!!! There’s the relationship between you and the music, the music and me, me and you, and all over again… So here’s to us, baby! ‘Cause I couldn’t do it without you.

Thanks for checkin’ in and joining me for the ride! And don’t worry, we’ll find a few buds for the carpool lane.

Love and thanks,

Jac
