An Australian ambient doom metal project headed by former The Eternal vocalist and guitarist Mark Kelson, InSomnius Dei drew comparisons as wide ranging as Pink Floyd mixed with experimental death metal and doom.
Opting to expand the band for InSomnius Dei's debut full-length, Kelson recruited fellow Melbourne metal veterans Terry Vainoras (of Damaged, Earth, Canonero, and Cryptal Darkness) and James Hunt (of the Eternal) to add some muscle to the work, and having already worked with the two in previous projects (Eternal and Cryptal Darkness -- a project which also saw Mark Kelson as a collaborator) the new trio gelled quickly. The resulting album, Illusions of Silence, was finally released on Firebox Records in late 2007. ~ Chris True
